Advantages: Inexpensive for a cruise

Disadvantages: Over all too soon

I don't like travelling abroad. Too many foreigners. So when I got married, I was in a bit of a spot. Friends of mine had gone to the Caribbean for their honeymoon, but I didn't fancy the jabs. So I thought I'd take a look at a cruise, but thought it would be too expensive. How wrong I was.

It was a surprise for the new missus, so it had to be good, and it was. A week cruising the Med, in the best cabin and still less than £800 a piece, all in, flights, food, entertainment. We were on the MS Seawing, not a new liner by any means, but still impressive. The cabin was great, on-suite, dressing area, settee, table and chairs. The other cabins were more basic, but you don't go on a cruise to stay in the cabin do you? Besides the entertainment was good, and anyway, we were in one port or another half of the time.

We made four or five stops, from Palma to, Cadiz, Gibralter, Lisbon, and Tangier. Each stop had an excursion if you wanted it, or you could do your own thing. Tangier was a bit of an ordeal, but apart from that it was fine, I loved it.

I found that the people taking the cruise were people like me, who can't afford to be extravagant, and were a friendly lot, which helped of course.

I can't wait to go again!
