Advantages: Gets you from A to B
Disadvantages: ...via C D and E costing you a packet
Unfortunately I have to use this company every day as I travel to and from work. First thing to say is that their drivers are miserable. This I can understand having to deal with Joe Bloggs and his seven chavs get on the bus and they don't want to pay.
However, the main problem is that the buses do not run on time and cost an arm and a leg. A lot of the buses are also really old and have no heating on. They are small for the number of people they generally carry and their ticket prices are extortionate. It is actually cheaper for me to get a taxi from from the local town centre than it is to travel by bus - how ridiculous is that. The buses are easy to spot because of the green and white livery used by the company. Spotting the bus is not always the problem though. Sometimes the drivers don't bother to roll around the destination display and so you see buses travelling in the opposite direction to what is displayed on the front of them.
Of course public transport is a good idea but if people are meant to use this company and their services instead of cars then their whole service needs improving. People are stuck with using Arriva as where I live they are the dominant bus service provider but if I had any other readily available alternative I would certainly use that instead.
Awful.
Summary: Use other forms of transport where possible, unreliable

- 06/01/09 I SO agree with this! Arriva run, or ruin, most of my local bus services (many have been cancelled or cut back to the point of uselessness). The drivers are short-tempered barstewards...and don't get me started on their health & safety policy, or their ability and eagerness to intrude into private conversations that they find "objectionable" ...and ehere does all the money from the extortionate fees go - into the managers' pockets?! |
