Advantages: Erm.....
Disadvantages: Disregard timetable, Many drivers are pig ignorant.
These are just a couple of the many bad times I have had using the Arriva Scotland bus service. I would just like to put my tuppence worth in while its fresh in my mind. I worked at Glasgow airport up until friday, when I worked my last day in that job to move onto bigger and better things....anyway, I was on the 2pm-10pm shift last week, known to many as the backshift. The bus we get home leaves the airport bus stop at 945pm,so when our relief comes in a wee bit early our supervisor kindly lets us away early to get said bus. Well, only if the driver waits until the time he's actually meant to leave at that is. Once last week he "decided" in his infinite wisdom that he was going to leave at 941pm without me on it,instead of 4 minutes later when he is supposed to leave, with me on it. I mean for god sake,is this not why the company actually issue's a timetable? Obviously not, because the driver just decides when to go and when he's gonna turn up. The next night,I got away slightly later,so therefore had to get the 10pm bus.... Oh no wait,I didn't,because the fool didn't turn up until 1015pm,then he decided he wasn't going to go into Paisley,he was just gonna go straight to Clydebank. By this point I am raging with anger, but calm myself with the fact that the next bus, which without a doubt does go into Paisley,is due at 1030pm..... Oh hang on,no it bloody doesn't because at 1045pm when its still not at the bus stop,I decide to walk. Now don't get me wrong,I like walking,I walk a lot,and I could in no way be described as lazy or unfit. But when its at that time of night and you're walking through some of the most dangerous housing schemes this side of the Atlantic (it's not really that bad,but you do still run quite a high risk of a beating),you just cannot contain your anger at the inept bus drivers, who basically think because thier buses aren't busy, they can dri
ve along at thier own pace, and completely disregard the actual timetable. And then there's the drivers that turn up late, and go slow to pretend they are actually the next bus.... Basically the Arriva Scotland bus service is somewhat of a joke. The majority of them turn up and leave when they want, talk on thier mobile phones while you try and pay them, and generally do not give a rat's ass for the highway code. I think I need to get myself a car,oh and a driving licence...and some insurance. "Would you use this company again? Undecided " (Only because I have to!)
