Avis Rent-A-Car

Description: Car rental.

Newest Review: ... Budget, Hertz, Europcar and Avis and most of the time Avis is cheaper. I also found that there are discrepancies in price if you reserve a car calling the UK number, or the local one. With the last booking I made in switzerland, for example, I paid 130 Pounds for 3 days for a small class A car and it was nearly 200 Pounds if I booked via the Swiss website! As I said, I book over the phone, ... more

Avis rent a car is one of the largest and worlwide firms for car and van rental. Their uk website is www.avis.co.uk or www.avis.com from where you can select your own country. I have rented with Avis in Germany, France, Bulgaria, Romania, Finland, Austria, Spain and Italy. I normally reserve my car in UK, please note that their website is currently having problems and the reservation number displayed are not correct. The one which works is 08445 445 566 from within uk. I normally check prices from Budget, Hertz, Europcar and Avis and most of the time Avis is cheaper. I also found that there are discrepancies in price if you ...  Read the complete review

Living in the US I was very excited to be able to return to England for a Holiday over christmas 2008, needing transportation and (Stupidly ) leaving my rental car booking late I booked my car with Avis as they were fairly reasonable and still had vehicles left. At the beginning of December I reserved a Class C vehicle , the day I was due to depart I ended up being delayed by 24 hours due to bad weather and was unable to collect my vehicle on the day I agreed to, I called avis US reservations ( as I had booked the vehicle on the US website ) and was instructed that to change the reservation I would have to call the Heathrow Airport office in the UK ...  Read the complete review

Avis provide car rental around the globe. One of their major benefits is that they have a very wide and extensive network of pick up and drop locations, so that if you are flying abroad, chances are that you will find an Avis desk at the airport or the major cities. The main competitors for Avis are Hertz and Europcar. I have been traveling around Europe for business reasons in the last 20 years and have been renting cars in many European cities. I used to rent from Hertz, but then realized that Avis offer better deals. I do not rent very expensive cars, and for the middle range, Avis seem to have decent deals. Although they are an international ...  Read the complete review

Avis provides car rental services around the world. You can rent cars, either samll or large and also vans, although I have never done it myself. I have rented cars from Avis on 3 occasions. I am now on their mailing list and the last time I rent from them it was after they sent me a promotional email with a 15% discount code. I cannot say that Avis are the cheapest. I believe Europcar are cheaper most of the times. Each time I rent with Avis it was because I had been given a cheaper quote. In my opinion, they are cheaper for weekend rates and more expensive for the week rentals. The cras I rent were all ...  Read the complete review

In September 2006 I recently hired a car in Italy through air miles and used my airmiles to prepay via a voucher. When I picked up the car the only extras to pay were for extra driver, petrol and CDW excess waiver. Having dealt with car hire companies in the past I was wary to double check all the elements of the form and clarif the charges on the agreement. Having gone through the agreement with the Avis rep at the airport I picked up the car and had a trouble free week in Italy. On return of the car, low and behold the Avis office was shut. It was 2pm in the middle of the day so I dropped the car off and placed the keys in the Avis office letterbox as ...  Read the complete review
