Avis Rent-A-Car ... I need to book a car abroad, I normally try to find a local firm, which I can trust, however, most of the time this is not possible. Failing that, I normally contact few of the major and international rent-a-car companies and I ask them for a quote. I found that Avis is most of the time the winner, the one providing the cheapest fare. I normally book thrsough their UK number, and if I am really rich of time, I also try to call the local number to see if they can offer cheaper deals. As a fact, if you book the same car for the same period both locally and via the UK number, you will be given different quotes. I am not sure what is the logic behind it, most of the ti... Avis Rent-A-Car ... a short haul flight from Malaga, some friends arrived at Birmingham on a delayed flight of nearly an hour landing late at night around 11.40pm. They made their way to the baggage reclaiming point then after collecting their suitcases, moved on to collect their hire car from the AVIS desk. They had previously booked online to save some money, pre-paying a deposit with their credit card as well as the flight and to pay the outstanding balance once they collected their car. To their horror, the AVIS card machine rejected the card twice so with only £55 needed to pay the balance; my friends offered to pay cash but were refused by the woman, saying we can t take cash... Europcar ... have also been misled by Europcar when signing my rental agreement at Bergerac Airport. I was told that the serenity pack fee was included in the payment I had already made in advance and would not be charged again. My booking had been made through Auto Europe who I have used before and are, I believe, trustworthy. As the rental agreement makes no mention of additional charges I was happy to sign the Europcar document. When I subsequently checked my credit card statement I was shocked to discover that, despite the assurance I was given, the fee of 99 euros has been charged to my card.
