In May 2009 we hired a car from Europecar at Bergerac Airport. We paid for the car hire and insurance in the UK before departure. Our flight arrived at 1.15pm and we understood that the office was closed between 12 noon and 2pm, so we expected to wait a few minutes. However, after clearing customs we made our way to the office at about 1.50pm and found it open and dealing with customers. The young lady who greeted us spoke good English and stressed that the car was full of fuel and should be returned in the same condition to avoid a large charge. We were asked to sign for receipt of the car and initial in a few places to confirm it was in good condition. We had to leave credit card details in as security.
