Advantages: I am happy with them
Disadvantages: none
I only rented a car with Europcar once last week in Barcelona, Spain.
The booking was for work, and our travel agent had offered us a quote from Avis, Europcar and Hertz. Europcar was the cheaper, however, it must be said that I am a gold member of British Airways and I normally get an upgrade. The quote in this case was 136 Pounds for 3 days for a medium class car. Avis was only 5 Pounds more expensive and I would have selected them if I could, however, due to company policy we had to choose the cheapest option.
Upon arrival at Barcelona airport I went to the Europcar desk, which is close to the desks of the other car rental companies. There were 2 people at the desk and each of them was attending a client. I only waited 5 minutes and then I had to hand my credit card, passport and driving licence.
I signed the contract and I was told that the car was new, with only 2000 km on the clock. I picked up the contract and went to the parking to pick up the keys. I inspected the car, and only found a very tiny scratch on the passenger door. I went back to the office where I picked up the car, and they added it to the contract without any issue.
I went from Barcelona to Sabadell the first day. The day after I went to Andorra and then came back to the airport. In total I made around 500km. The car was a Focus Fiesta and was very clean and run very well. It was a petrol one and 1.6 of cylinders which was enough for accelerating when I had to overtake cars.
When I came back, I asked to close the contract and this was done in 10 minutes, after a very fast inspection of the car.
Overall, a good experience.
Summary: 4/5
