Europcar - Terrible experience (Europcar)

Disadvantages: Unacceptably poor customer service and questionable business practices

Put simply, Europcar in our experience are to be avoided at all costs. They may well be one of the cheapest providers, with a large network of vehicles, but our experience is that their service is at best poor, and at worst dishonest.

If you do rent a car from them, check the exterior AND the interior thoroughly BEFORE you sign the papers as we were not given the opportunity to do so before the vehicle was checked out and this caused problems later. They also did not check the vehicle out properly on return. With most other companies this would be resolved quickly, but due to the extreme inability / nonchalance / unavailability of the customer service department, the issue still lingers without resolution. They may take large sums of money from your account without any attempt at prior warning or explanation.

And be prepared for potential additional charges to be added to your card after the rental, without any prior discussion attempt to explain what these are for.

To be avoided at any cost in my opinion. Very poor indeed.
