Advantages: fast, comfortable and inexpensive

Disadvantages: It would be unfair to criticise

I recently went to Paris. I have been going to the continent for years and normally drive. Thi time I decided to go by train on the Eurostar.
It leaves from St Pancras station in London.
The station is big, and has been modernised for Eurostar travellers, and so there are many things to do whilst your waiting for your train. Shopping, eating or if it's your thing, sitting on one of the many benches watching the world go by.

My ticket was paid for by the company and I had to collect it. Everything went just fine. I had been considering whether I should upgrade to business clas, even though i had used Eurostar a few years back when it it was located in Waterloo, and i remembered the seats were very comfortable anyway.

The french girl assistant suggested that if I changed my seat, it was unlikely that ain the particular seat she was recommending that anyone would be sitting next to me. i took her advise and it paid off.

i had to go to someone else and get my boarding pass altered but that was quick and simple. Security, and passport control is similar to an airport,

Having passed through all this, with far less pain than an airport, i wasn't disappointed with anything. No one next to me, the luggage area right next to me, and very comfortable seats.

The compartment, unlike a plane is spacious, and you feel like a human going on holiday or business rather than an animal heading for the slaughterhouse as you do on a plane.

The journey is quick, c. 2.5 hours and the Gard du Nord station is right in the centre of Paris. It was all so relaxing, and I charge my phone and computer on the journey using two of the many sockets available.

I can thoroughly recommend it as it gets you further into town than the airport and its a much nicer experience than flying.

Instead of taking a taxi, I decided to take the Metro. Now that is a whole new experience even for someone who has used the Tube half their life.

Summary: A pleasant experience
