Advantages: Less stress than air travel

Disadvantages: Lack of big bag storage space

I have travelled to Paris a few times but for both myself and my boyfriend this recent trip to Paris was the first time either of us had used Eurostar to get there and after this experience it will probably be our first choice from now on.

The new departure station of Kings Cross St Pancras is very modern and well set out and the Eurostar check in is well marked and very clear. Chec in and the security checks were pretty efficient even if one of the staff members was a bit rude, they are not Eurostar people I assume so I just scowled and grunted my disapproval at their curt manner.

Seats are allocated on the train and the only real criticism I have is that the space for large luggage is not very big and did cause a bit of a problem however if you are travelling light then there is plenty of storage space. The decor does look a little worn however I guess these trains must be well into their working life now as it has been around for a while, certainly hey are very comfortable and there is hardly any noise as well which meant we could both nap on both legs of the journey. There are plenty of toilets which are clean and reasonably spacious.

Certainly travelling by Eurostar takes away all the hassle of an airport check in plus you are delivered direct into the centre of Paris on arrival with the superb metro system allowing easy onward travel.

There is a buffet on the train but we avoided the inflated prices y getting food before we departed in the wide range of choice in and around the station. Overall a great experience and so much less stress ful as flying for about the same overall cost if you factor in airport parking.

Do remember that you get a discount on both UK train travel and metro fares if you have a Eurostar ticket.

Summary: Train travel to Paris

I have always found it quite expensive, but I would definitely use it and not fly to Paris.

Eurostar is VERY cheap! £53 pound returns for me to Brussels.
