Advantages: Effecient, quick, well organised, well priced

Disadvantages: none

I recently used the euro tunnel for the first time and have to say that it is by far my favourite form of transport. It was so well organised and for virtually the same price as travelling by ferry. Obviously this method of transport is smooth regardless of the outdoor elements experienced at sea. I cannot say that one thing in particular impressed me; it was just the experience as a whole. From when you first arrive, we were there on our outbound journey about 1 hour early so had to wait around for a little bit before we could drive around to the boarding area, this was not a problem though as there were nice places to eat and a nice big shop to look around, (luckily as I realised I needed high vis jackets for driving through Germany legally). Once through to the boarding area after about a 10 minute wait of sat in a row of cars you proceed through to your train and just drive straight onto it which is a bit of a surreal experience, then about 45 minutes after driving onto the train we were driving off of it straight out onto the French roads. You do get a few reminders though that you need to drive on the wrong side of the road there, (ie the right side of the road).

On the return leg of the journey however we were pleasantly surprised (which is very nice when you have been driving for 19 hours) when we turned up 2 and a half hours before our train was due to depart that we got the choice of getting onto a train up to 2 hours before the one we booked and I believe that they do the same for you up to 2 hours after you booked train so no panic or speeding if you are running a little late. This I feel is great especially on the way home if you are travelling a long way like we did it can be difficult to plan ahead for how long your journey will take you to reach the terminal.

Overall I found Eurotunnel the most stress free, well organised and efficient method of international transport I have used. The only negative is that it will only take you as far as Calais. Will definitely use it again and would recommend for anyone travelling to france and wanting a rental car, just drive you own instead.

Summary: brilliant mode of transport; my favourite means on international travel
