dangaroo Bary-Patras: ... which can get a bit packed obviously because lots of people are heading to the port at the same time, it also happens that lots of boats leave at the same time as you don t just have one heading to Greece but also several to Albania, ferries which can get particularly busy when workers head home on a Friday for the weekend. Once you get dropped off, there s a short walk to a posh terminal building where ...

amullett Hellenic Seaways (Greece)
... Seaways is one of the largest ferry companies servicing Greece and it is probably the best one we took when we were on holiday. We used Hellenic Seaways when we came back from Naxos to Piraeus. Out of all the ferries we took, it was the most punctual, the biggest and the best. First and foremost - the boat we rode was the most modern and had the best facilities including different lounges, big windows, a sun deck, multiple bars, a restaurant and a duty-free-style souvenir shop. It had many seats and modern TVs and everything in that regard was good. The staff were also the most friendly and didn t yell at us to hurry up like the other two companies we travelle...

amullett Bluestar Ferries (Greece)
... ferry is of high quality in terms of interior, safety instructions and comfortability, but falls down a lot in other ways. The biggest problem is that on their website, you can only make bookings with Internet Explorer. I use Google Chrome browser and I cannot even view the reservations page. This is a serious concern for me because I do not believe that Internet Explorer has adequate security features installed. That means you have to go out of your way to go to a travel agent - big problem. When we rode the Bluestar ferry from Santorini to Naxos, it was half an hour late. This is the first problem with my personal experience. When the boat did actually come, the...

amullett Anek Lines (Greece)
... lines is probably the worst ferry company I used when I was in Greece. It was expensive, their website didn t display the prices and the staff were disgraceful. When we went to get our tickets from Athens (Piraeus) to Santorini, it took us one entire hour to get the information we needed and that was using a Greek friend of ours to scour the internet and phones for info. This problem however is not unique to Anek Lines - the entire Greek ferry industry seems to be a mess. When we finally got to the port, we went to find the ticket booth, but found that the ticket agency is actually outside it, meaning that we had to walk all the way around with our bags (around 10 ...
