Horrible customer sevice and total ripp off. Always make sure you photograph your car before and right after you bring it back. We wanted them at Oslo airport to check the car with us when we returned but where told from a stupidly grinning person that "thats ok no problem" waving us off. Then a month later they accused us of bringing the car back with a tiny scratch and ripped us off 700 pounds- without ANY notice. I was just checking our credit card bill and was wondering where the hell this enormous amount was coming from. After several fruitless mails someone finally told us about a "scratch". I was thinking fine, will never rent with them ... Read the complete review

I have a long experience in terms of renting cars both for business and leisure. Personally, I found that Avis is normally the cheapest option, and because in the end all cars are the same, I tend to rent with them. When I need to book a car for business purposes, I go via our travel agent. They used to book me with Avis or Europcar or Budget (which by the way is not that cheap!) However, last month we signed a deal with Hertz rent-a-car. They offered us to beat any offer we had for 6 car companies as part of a promotional deal. Since the company I work for is very big, I think it makes sense for them. The way they structured the deal is ... Read the complete review

I had pre-paid for my booking online and chose to pay a bit more for a better car. When I arrived at Picardy Place in Edinburgh to collect the car I was told that they didn't have the better car available and I would have to take a basic model. They told me that they couldn't refund me the extra I had paid as I had paid in advance!!! It later transpired the car's headlights didn't work. When I returned the car and explained this to them they claimed that I had broken the lights and that they still wouldn't give me a refund despite the fact the car was not roadworthy! They then tried to claim that the petrol tank wasn't full and they were going to charge me £16 to top it ... Read the complete review

I had never hired a car before but needed to do so from Toulouse recently as there was no public transport to where I wanted to go, and to have taken a taxi would have cost both arms, both legs and a few other bits, judging from what it cost to go just three miles from the airport. So I booked a car from Hertz via Opodo's website, as it seemed to offer the bes deal. I booked for 23.5 hours to keep it within a day, and ordered a "compact" car for £43. This brought me a nice Ford Focus 18 diesel. I was pleased it was diesel because of the better fuel economy, and I was very happy with the car, although noticed after taking delivery that the front ... Read the complete review

One of the things you realize when you work at an Investment bank is how much money is wasted which could be made of better use. I am not talking of saving the world, but surely some more dosh in my pocket would not hurt. I go to Europe on business trips and most of our clients are based in large cities, but last week we had to go to Milan, Turin and Biella, the cities in the North of Italy and the best way was to rent a car. We found our car with Hertz. We had a Alfa 154, surely a classy sport, do not take me wrong! Lovely! However, look at the price, we paid 345 pounds for 3 days. I know this is the so called business rate, if you book ... Read the complete review
