Advantages: Cheap, clean and comfy
Disadvantages: Possible wait times for buses.
Every time I've been to Orlando, I've never felt the need to hire a car. Mainly this is due to the expense involved in hiring. You prepay in the UK, but its not cheap, then there's the price to park which is not a bargain at the theme parks. I also like the idea of being able to have a glass of wine with my lunch, or a beer if I wanted. With a car this would not be possible.
This is where the Lynx bus system really comes in handy. We generally stay a week on I-Drive, then a week at Disney. While on I-Drive (the main tourist strip running from Universal Studios in the north end to Premium Outlets in the southern end, a 14 mile strip!).
The Lynx bus operates along this strip, but goes further afield. We have used it numerous times to take a trip to Florida Mall, as well as the attractions along I-Drive, such as Wet and Wild and Sea World. A bus can also be taken from this area to other destinations such as Disney, and other Orlando locations, all you need to do is a bit research on their website before you go.
The bus has frequent stops, it's clean, air-condition (which is a must in the Florida heat), safe and cheap to ride. They also seem to run pretty much to the timetable also, so time it right and you won't have to wait long.
They have a website where you can get info regarding timetables, where buses stop, how to plan a journey and which bus to get. I always print off the time tables at home for the journey's I plan to take and take them with me when I go on holiday.
My kids go every where by car at home, so when they get on a bus it makes up part of their holiday, its like a bit of an adventure to them!
I know a lot of people do not drive and this may put them off going to a destination such as Orlando, but with a bus service like Lynx it makes getting around really easy.
Summary: Great way to get around for non-drivers.
