Premium Review Merseyrail: Quick & easy way to get across Merseyside (490 words)
by - written on 02/10/09 (Very useful, 50 readings)
Rating:

I rely on Merseyrail on a daily basis for my commute to work. I live in Liverpool and commute to the Wirral. Merseyrail operates across Liverpool and the Wirral and from my experience they have been punctual 99% of the time. Only occasionally have the trains been cancelled and when they have, a very reliable replacement bus service has replaced ...  Read the complete review

I live in North Wales but work in Liverpool so until my suggestion of the "Primark Bridge" becomes a reality, I am resigned to a daily commute. I have suggested that Primark fund the bridge of dreams because in North Wales we are blessed with an abundance of Chavs, most of whom are called Britney. In any case, I drive to one ...  Read the complete review

Merseyrail is the train transport network used in the Merseyside area of England, this covers the Wirral peninsula and Liverpool and its various districts. Over the past 5 years or so Merseyrail has undergone massive changes, all of which, as far as i can see, have resulted in an improved service. In days gone past train often turned up ...  Read the complete review

A lot of the Merseyrail reviews featured on this site are 7-8 years old now and I think the service deserves a more up to date commentary. Merseyrail is today the most reliable/punctual rail service in the UK, with a customer satisfaction rating of over 91% There were early difficulties with the system following privatisation, but it is ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Getting Better (105 words)
by - written on 20/10/03 (Useful, 71 readings)
Rating:

As a regular user of Merseyrail I?ve got to hold my hand up and say that over the past three months since the new Dutch owners took over the trains and service have improved vastly. The trains appear a lot cleaner, indeed I ridden on what look like brand new ones. Have also noticed that litter pickers get on and off the trains at regular ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Merseyrail: Customer Service? Whats that? (411 words)

I use Merseyrail nearly every day when I’m travelling to work just doing a short commuter trip from Birkenhead Hamilton Square over to Liverpool Lime Street to catch my express trains to Manchester. For the most part the trains run ok. There is timetabled to be a train every 5 minutes from Hamilton Square through to Liverpool and the ...  Read the complete review

I have the misfortune to commute from Southport to Liverpool every day by Merseyrail. 'Why don't you move?', you may ask, 'if it's so bad'. Well, trust me, moving isn't an option, as it would only mean that my wife would have the same journey in reverse. And driving isn't an option. So there are my negative reasons ...  Read the complete review

What can £4.95 get you? A McDonalds (yuck), a new wardrobe at New Look (yuck) and an adult and child return to Chester from Liverpool Central with Merseyrail run by our good friends Arriva (yuck). I have to say I was pleasantly suprised when the moody ticket man barked the fare for me and my niece to travel to Chester for a day out (look, ...  Read the complete review

an awful service (204 words)
by - written on 23/04/01
Rating:

Merseyrail's track record is not a good one, dispite what it's charter says. Considering the fairly small area in which it operates, the failure rates, cancellations and delays are somewhat higher than they lead us to believe. Hardly a day goes by without a high number of cancellations. Whilst some routes have a quarter hour ...  Read the complete review

*** Important update at the bottom... *** Merseyrail Electrics are part of the Arriva Northwest group, owning Merseyside's rail network. This involves 150 miles of track and 91 stations, split across three sections : the Wirral Line (covering the Wirral and Chester, linking to North Wales), the Northern Line (Merseyside's coast, ...  Read the complete review

Real Misery (296 words)
by - written on 01/09/00
Rating:

"Real Misery" is a very fitting anagram of "Mersey Rail". I would say that the company is a joke but I (and countless others) are not laughing - if you travelled on their network, you'd know what I mean. Go to their stations and you will see a poster with their "charter performance" on it. To go by the ...  Read the complete review

Yesterday it was annouced that Merseyrail, part of the Arriva group are going to lower rail fares in an attempt to make Liverpool's transport greener. Congratulations, at last someone is attempting to do what should have already happened. However rail fares will only fall on a sunday, and only till Christmas. 50p for a ten minute rail journey ...  Read the complete review

That would be the Private Eye nickname for my local railway service,Merseyrail. And not without some justification - the service rangesfrom satisfactory to downright unreliable, the prices are so-so andthe staff can be unhelpful (ok, I admit, my dad works for Merseyrail, and this doesn't help their cause). But on the ...  Read the complete review
