Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Many, poor food, facilities, service and nothing to make me book again.
I would like to review Norfolkline based upon a trip I recently took from Rosyth to Zeebrugge as a foot passenger at the end of July 2009. I have split the trip into different stages to allow for quick access to the parts of the review you consider important:
Rosyth terminal outward bound
We arrived at the terminal at Rosyth two hours before we were set to sail as stated in the literature we received. Unfortunately the terminal only offered a couple of vending machines and a few seats which wasn't a lot considering the wait we had ahead of us. Only 30 foot passengers were boarding that day. We were finally loaded onto a 12 seated mini bus (took several loads before our turn).
Onboard the ferry outward bound to Zeebrugge
We only had a wait a few movements at the reception desk to get our key for our cabin and evening meal and breakfast vouchers. We got our key and went up onto the next level to find our cabin. The cabin was very clean but basic although the pillow had a number of stains on it. We decided to explore the ferry which was hugely disappointing! Where were the facilities to entertain us for the 22 hour trip ahead of us?!
There was one small bar and half a dozen tables to sit at! The bar had one person running it and we had to wait over 30 mins for a £3 pint that wasn't worth it. The ferry had a "cinema" which was very poor, over £3 a ticket for a tiny screen. There were people just coming in and out throughout the entire film which was annoying as they hadn't paid and it was disturbing my viewing, there was no staff in place to police this or even to complain to.
The "shop" is the next joke. Only open for a few a hours and never opens on time! It contained half a dozen books and the rest was perfume and boxes of Stella (classy).
Dinner and breakfast was operated using a buffet style system which involved waiting (again) for over 30 minutes for a £20 plate of cold processed food. Simply awful.
The onboard singing entertainment drove to bed which unfortunately was situated above the stage so no sleep for us until after 1am.
The ferry terminal at Zeebrugge was equally basic as Rosyth.
The return trip was equally as bad.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
I'LL BE FLYING NEXT TIME!
Summary: Bad experience - save your money and time and fly.
