Norwegian Cruise LineNewest Review: ... Cruising' that Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) prides themselves on. Breakfast is served in about half a dozen of the restaurants including the two big buffet resturants and is from about 6am to, well, to lunch, really - you just go whenever you want and eat what you want. Or you can go to the Tzar's Palace and have plated food delivered to you..." I petered out: I don't think she really ... more |

In January 2009 I went on two Caribbean cruises - one 9 night and one 4 night - back-to-back on the same boat (indeed in the same cabin). This was Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) the Norwegian Jewel and this review is about that ship. My trip took me to about 9 destinations, but the review is about the ship, not the trip. I didn't mean to cause a marital dispute - honest! I really didn't mean any harm...You know what it's like, you get chatting to the people next to you on the sun beds. We were in the Dominican Republic and there were a couple of cruise liners out there in the bay. "So" I asked, "Are you off the Jewel, too?" nodding at the ... Read the complete review

However, they still do many other cruises and this review will cover NCL as a cruise company as well as the places we visited, in case a reader wanted to cruise there with a different company. Travelled from Vancouver on a 7 day cruise to Alaska, stopping off at Skagways, Haines, Juneau and Ketchikan. Travelled with Norwegian Cruise Lines in an outside state room on the Norwegian Wind, on the six floor (out of 12). We booked with BA, and were given an automatic stateroom upgrade, having paid for an inside stateroom. I chose this holiday becuase it was somewhere I had always wanted to go, and this was the best way of seeing Alaska, not because I particular fancied a cruise. Nevertheless the cruise was good value at about £700 each for the week. I particularly liked the cruise line becuase of its relaxed dress code. you did not have to dress ... Read the complete review

Not many of the big cruise liners have the pedigree that The Norway has. It was called SS France but has now been renamed and refurbished to its original state. It was the longest cruise ship in the world (and I think it still is) as well as the only ship allowed to fly the UN flag because it has the most nationalities on board. It is also an absolutely beautiful ship, with a grace and beauty that can only come from the golden age of cruising. I did the Caribbean itinerary on The Norway: starting in Miami then on to St John and St Thomas, St Maarten and NCL's own private island Great Stirrup Cay, with some days at sea in-between. I can't remember the ... Read the complete review
