manonfireuk Merseyrail: ... rely on Merseyrail on a daily basis for my commute to work. I live in Liverpool and commute to the Wirral. Merseyrail operates across Liverpool and the Wirral and from my experience they have been punctual 99% of the time. Only occasionally have the trains been cancelled and when they have, a very reliable replacement bus service has replaced them. So for punctuality and reliability they get top marks from me. ...

sweetheart85 Virgin Trains
... trains are a fantastic company. I travelled on them every weekend from my home to my ex-bfs and I can say they were the best company that I travelled with. I normally start my virgin experience from Birmingham New street. Were all of the staff have always been really positive and excellent customer service has been shown. I have arthritis and they have always helped me when I have struggled with baggage. The reps are excellent in providing information on the best available ticket for your journey and also the cheapest. Once up on the train I have found them to be extremely comfortable and easy to locate your carriage if you have reserved a seat, which is always g...

darren55 East Midland Trains
... is my chance to get something of my chest, I travel on the laughably poor 7.35 East Midlands train from Sheffield to Manchester and catch the returning one at 4.42. Thats the bald facts for this shocking train service, now Sheffield and Manchester are if facts don t lie two of the biggest cities in England and many people might want to travel between the two of them? Yet the service offered by East Midlands on this train is little more than a sick and steadily less funny joke. So whats my gripe? Well this is intrinsically the train from Norwich to Liverpool so travels through the East part of England before hitting Nottingham, Sheffield, Manchester and finally Liver...

The card costs £26, which can be recovered in savings in a single journey if long and expensive enough, as it knocks a third off all rail fares. Of course, there are exceptions, but a third off is actually a hell of a lot. I actually got my railcard for free when I signed up to a Natwest student account, so I literally had nothing to lose and have saved hundreds of pounds in the process. When booking an online ticket, simply add this railcard to your order and a third of the pr...
