Eurostar:
... took a family trip to the south of France via Paris in August 2009. I ve been convinced high speed train travel is the future for some time, but this is the first time we experienced the reality - did it live up to our high expectations? We caught the train from Ashford, which was painless - far less hassle than a plane. The trip itself was fine, except we had backwards seats (boo), which makes me a bit headach... Railways in general Transport International / Rail transport is an energy-efficient and capital-intensive means of mechanized land transport. Rails provide very smooth and hard surfaces on which the wheels of the train may roll with a minimum of friction. As an example, a typical wagon can hold up to 125 tons of freight on two four-wh... overall rating |

First Great Western ... Great Western Trains are operated by the First Group an Aberdeen trasport giant which not only operates a significant part of the rail network, but much of the bus one as well. As a company it has been in existence for 20 years. My experience of First Western Trains however is along what used to be one of Great Western s main routes between the South West/West and London Paddington. I ve travelled many times from Taunton to Bristol and from Taunton to the capital over 8 years, and last week I had the opportunity to compare experiences. My partner (Sue) and I travelled from Plymouth to Paddington on 3rd August and returned on the 6th. Our tickets had been booked... Amtrak (USA) ... m a HUGE fan of Amtrak, which travels the breadth and length of the USA. It doesn t have as many stops as the Greyhound does and therefore it mainly services larger Towns rather than little places. I travelled from Miami to New York City by Amtrak and it took 33 hours in total but was the most relaxing and chilled out part of my Holiday. I was able to pick my Seat (make sure you get there early for that!!) and I settled myself in after my Ticket had been checked. There is a Food Car on Board and it s like a little restaurant - You go in and order whatever you want and then pay for it straight away (don t forget to leave a small tip!!). I can recommend the Key Lime ... Read the full review: Amtrak - Great Way To Travel by DreamerHelen |

Virgin Trains ... m a big fan of Virgin as a company. I ve found that nearly always they somehow manage to offer a higher level of quality or service, without any massive difference on price, and again Virgin Trains are no exception. - TICKETS As with all the train companies the booking and purchasing of tickets is standardised and so there is obviously no difference between one company to the next. The prices of the tickets, relatively speaking, I have found pretty reasonable. Generally I do think that compared to many of our European neighbours train travel is exceptionally expensive, however I would say that Virgin trains always seem to have a good amount of cheaper tickets availa...
