SixtNewest Review: ... to pay for a whole new tyre and fitting (at my own expense, after following a Sixt employee's advice that having it deducted from the deposit would be a lengthy and possibly more expensive option). The issue here is that under the "balance of probabilities" (enough to win in a civil matter) the puncture was already there when I picked it up. Yes of course I should have got down ... more |

I had a genuine grievance with the company (see below) and followed their advice to contact UK customer services by email. That was 30 days ago and I have still heard nothing. Maybe that is because I said I would no longer do business with them if they didn't reply satisfactorily! This review refers to Sixt UK, Battersea branch. The issue centred around a dangerous tyre - I discovered that one of the tyres was going down after driving home (4 miles) and then a bit later (after reinflating it) found the screw that was puncturing it. I had to pay for a whole new tyre and fitting (at my own expense, after following a Sixt employee's advice that ... Read the complete review

I reserved a car with Sixt in France back in May for travel in August. When I contacted them to change my dates by four days, I was told I could neither change my reservation nor cancel it as I had missed the "deadline" which was in the terms and conditions of their contract. I reviewed the terms and conditions again and saw nothing about a deadline under the heading "Cancellation". I even copy/pasted their own Terms to them and asked for clarification and again requested to cancel as there was no deadline mentioned. It was only then that they sent me a footnote to the terms which indicated the cancelation deadline and insisted that they would charge ... Read the complete review

Terrible experience with our 11-day rental, a nightmare that just doesn't want to go away. On the day we picked up the car, we realized they would make every attempt to keep the $500 pre-auth deposit (damage deductible) - and that's exactly how it worked out. We returned the car in an immaculate shape and there were absolutely no notes on the condition of the car on the return form. However, the electronic key gave us trouble throughout the trip and we were even stranded in Greece for almost a whole day without any roadside assistance provided by Sixt. Instead, they saw an opportunity to charge for the key itself (even thought there was no visible damage on it) - ... Read the complete review

The car was 3 hours late, they did not warn me in advance, for example give me a call. To try to give me a call is the simpliest thing they could do... but nothing...so I had to wait in a small town for 3 hours, no sorry, no excuse, no refund or free meal or something. I just had to wait, all they could say was 'I can't help it'. The guy behind the counter was also very uninterested and careless. When the car arrived it was a totally different car from than what I ordered, it is not listed at their fleet or website. Also service afterwards was very poor, all they can say is 'I can't help it'. Totally don't understand why they don't care about service. Sad. I'll ... Read the complete review

Another highly dissatisfied customer. Just before leaving on my trip I lost my credit cards and contacted Sixt customer services explaining my dilemma, customers services were poor/unhelpful but eventually the hiring office agreed to take a Euro500 cash deposit. Upon arrival the man at the Sixt desk was polite and helpful, although the keys were just handed to me and it took me ages to find the boot lock. The car, a Fiat Punto was OK, 5,000kms on the clock it was clean and tidy. However upon returning the car the clerk was not so nice, he went to check over the car and disappeared for ages, upom his return he informed use a tiny plastic bracket that holds the string to ...
