I have used them several times and don't have any problem with them. Their prices however are a slightly different story. However now I think you can buy a day return for anywhere on SWT network for £10, although I think this is weekends-only for a summer promotion.

SWT is the largest operator in terms of passenger kilometres travelled on the rail network. Approximately 160 million passenger journeys a year are made on their routes. I use South West trains everyday for my commute from Feltham to Vauxhall and also use them at weekends to go out or to go to football. First, the staff. At all the ... Read the complete review

I have always found the service provided by South West Trains to be superb. Maybe this is because I am not a regular traveller, or maybe I'm just lucky! I often use the service between Reading and London Waterloo, Reading and Guildford and between Sunbury and Waterloo. I have always found the trains to be comfortable and clean, with plenty of ... South West Trains are an important part of my life. I work for them and I use them to see family and friends on a regular basis. Comparing them as a private enterprise, passenger transport company I would have to say that they are mid range in the UK. SWT is a commuter service primarily and it shows in the manner of a "passenger ... Read the complete review

I started using SWT around 3 years ago when there were london bombings and no tubes running properly. and I liked the comfort and luxury of the brand new train coaches. I then moved next to the SWT station and now use SWT for daily commuting. I travel from Hounslow to Waterloo, which takes around 40 minutes. As the train starts from ... Read the complete review

I've worked for SWT for a while now as a guard, they are reasonable payers and most would be surprised about the level of pay; But you'd also be shocked to see what goes on behind the scenes. If it looks like know-one knows what thier doing its because they don’t. In the event major incidents causing delays staff have no idea what’s happening as ... Read the complete review

My father is a driver for South West Trains (SWT) and has been for the last two or so years. Because of this, I get to go free anywhere on the SWT line and anywhere in the UK for 25% of the total fare! SWT provide a good, clean service from as far west as Weymouth to as far east as Warterloo. However, if I had to pay the going ... Read the complete review

When I went to Devon in June, we had to use Southwest Trains to get to Bristol Temple Meads. We had to book our tickets in advance to get a seat as the congestion on our trains is appalling, and people these days haven’t got any damn manners, as I have found out many times on crowded trains. We climbed aboard our train and ... Read the complete review

My husband boarded a train at 22:00 at London Waterloo, expecting it to leave at 22:20 for a 1 hour 20 minute journey to Havant, Hampshire. At 22:40 it was announced that the guard had gone off for a tea break, and then reported sick, and they couldn't find a replacement. The next train (the last of the day) was at 23:20 on ... For the past eight months I've been commuting from London Waterloo to Woking (today is my last day, thank goodness) and have a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde day, commuting-wise. In the morning, I'd get the 8:08 from platform 8, and all will fine: a new-ish train, comfortable, punctual, tidy and swift. Very rarely was it ever delayed. And the ... Read the complete review

To start with I must apologise for the foul language that I shall use in this opinion. Ok, so I'll restrain the language but if I didn't then I would need to apologise. Any company that make Virgin look good is in trouble. And SWT elevate virgin to heaven. I commute from Egham to London pretty much daily. I haven't ... Read the complete review

Let me take you back to a day last August: "The 0730 semi-fast service from Woking to London Waterloo left on time this morning. The guard proudly announced that the service would be calling at West Byfleet, Byfleet and New Haw, Weybridge, Walton on Thames and London Waterloo arriving at 0808. Most unusual to get an announcement. ... Read the complete review

I feel that its about time that I wrote an opinion of my experience of South West Trains since I've gone through so many of the facets of their trains upon this line. I've been commuting from a station on the Epsom to Waterloo line for the last ten years. As the statistics show, SW Trains' performance has not been great either in running advertised services or in getting there on time - and this despite lengthening the time allowed for the journey after privatisation! I am going to rant now. I would just like to say that South West Trains are the most unreliable service in the entire world. I am late to college every day because of these stupid trains.
