Poor service - but what choice do we have? (Stagecoach)

Advantages: They run the service; as there is no other, we have no choice

Disadvantages: Hundreds - but most importantly, they are very very expensive

I have generally found the quality of bus services provided by Stagecoach to be very poor, though I am aware that there is great variation in this. I have come across some services which are super efficient, and others which are the complete opposite. On our local bus route, the tickets are expensive, the drivers are generally rude and unhelpful, and the busses are overcrowded, dirty and poorly maintained. The routes and not very well planned, and the busses are often late (or simply don't turn up at all). The timetables are frequently changes, though the busses seem to become less frequent. What is particularly concerning is the price of tickets. For me to travel the three or so miles and back into town, it costs around £2.80. I can get a return to Birmingham on the train for only £11.00. This just doesn't seem to add up at all. Very dissapointing.
