Free newspaper, every 10 mins, reasonable fare, that's more like it!
Member Name: Seven17
Advantages: Good service, free paper, clean buses, new buses, reasonable fare, vouchers for food on tickets.
Disadvantages: sometimes buses can be 10 minutes late so it's 20 mins waiting for a bus.
I have two main buses into town where I live, the three's, and stagecoach. there are also black cat and the nine's but they are for the major towns and cities. The stagecoach buses where I live come every ten minutes and travel from Alfreton to Mansfield Woodhouse and back weekdays from 4:30AM through till gone 11PM. No one can say they aren't convenient for such a small area as Derbyshire / Nottinghamshire.
Once on the bus you do get more than just a bus journey, you get a free copy of the Metro newspaper which i absolutely love reading each morning, you get a McDonalds offer of the back of your ticket, you get good service and you get a small discount for buying return and day rider tickets.
The buses are generally clean and are only littered with newspapers from the box at the front but generally speaking people pick up after themselves and there aren't any disgusting surprises lurking on your seat. The buses on my route have also, recently been upgraded from 04/54 plate buses to 12 plate ones, which are very modern, a]they look good, have LED lights, are comfortable, and actually have decent heaters in them for the winter months. Those old buses they had were really run down so its nice to see some replacement ones.
The buses are comfortable as far as buses go, they have thick fabric seats, the interior of the buses are traditional stagecoach colours with a bright orange floor and simple blue seats. The drivers are always very friendly, when people say thank you when coming off or getting on buses the drivers say thank you back. They don't drive like maniacs except for pulling out without looking from time to time but they don't speed, mount kerbs or overshoot bus stops.
Waving them down in the first place is easy, they stop right where you're standing for convenience, and they issue tickets faster than you can get the money out of your pocket.
Before i wrap up this review i would like to commend a particular bus driver, i don't know his name but he was a young guy with black hair, driving an early morning bus. About a month ago (september) There was an elderly lady getting off the bus on Huthwaite road outside the Texaco Garage, she tripped over in the gap between the pavement and edge of the bus doors, he quickly jumped out of his drivers seat, and helped this poor lady up, even though she was with someone and completely outside of the bus. He asked if she was alright, checked to see if she was hurt or if she'd broken a bone, but she was fine if anything a little upset. Excellent service, i and many other passengers began to help but i have to commend the driver, that was a caring deed.
Summary: Generally good service, a free newspaper tops it all off, makes it an enjoyable journey.
