I took this ultra-expensive service to Stansted on 29th January 2009. The driver thought that someone had jumped in front of the train at Clapton, so the police came and spent about 1 hour 40 minutes trying to find the person. Turns out the driver was mistaken - no-one was there! Anyway, we all missed out planes, so had to take train back to London (took 1 hour 5 minutes). As a result, I had to cancel my weekend away, and travel insurance doesn't cover abandonment of trip due to delay. So, thanks to Stansted Express I am out of pocket and missed a weekend away, and spent 7 hours door to door going to Stansted and back.
DON'T USE THIS AWFUL SERVICE!! Pay a little more on your flights and take the cheap tube to Heathrow. I will never go to Stansted again!

Despite what Dooyoo says, trains now depart from Liverpool Street to Stansted every 15 minutes and there are plans to add even more trains. It used to be relatively cheap to go to Stansted in the early days. If you want to go to Stansted airport with public transport, you can either take the Stansted Express from Liverpool Street, or, in theory, a normal train going to Stansted, and then jump on the Stansted Express, but it would take you ages.
