Stena LineNewest Review: ... at another building which you reach by a shuttle bus. This wasn't immediately apparent to us but luckily we met someone who regularly took the ferry over and put us right. You must check in at least 30 minutes before the ferry is due to depart. Once you get to check in you are issued with your boarding passes, and in our case, tickets for our city tour, and then you pass through security ... more |

A few weeks ago I was staying with my sister, reading the local paper as I always do, when I chanced upon an offer being run in conjuction with Stena for day trips to Belfast. Now despite my husband coming from Irish stock, we had no cause to visit Northern Ireland, but the advertisement made me think it might be nice to pop over and finally be able to say I had been to all the UK's capital cities. So, for the grand total of £20 return each, which included a bus tour of Belfast, I made the booking for myself, my sister and my daughter - and spent the next couple of weeks checking the weather and praying it would be calm. I have recently started using Stena, having previously used another big ferry company travelling from Holyhead to Dublin many times a year. I was always aprehensive of using Stena but can honestly admit that after one journey with them, I was hooked!! Starting at bookin... There are so many discounts available to those who take the time to find them on-line. The whole booking process is easy and quick and Stena stay in touch in the weeks leading up to youre trip via email.... I always find check in simple in Holyhead and the express boarding/disembarkation is fantastic for those of you like me who simply have no ... Read the complete review

The crossing usual takes about 90 minutes with excellent views being able to be seen on Belfast Lough, including Carrickfergus Castle, Knockagh Monument and views of the city itself. The sailing is usually very smooth and, after sailing on this boat over 20times, there has only been one incident ... Read the complete review

I was supposed to sail on the Stena Hollandica from Harwich to Hook of Holland and arrived in Harwich 40 minutes before the scheduled sail time, but alas, after the ladies in the check in boot had gone home. There was no one there to check me in. It should be mentioned that other companies such as Color Line and DFDS keeps the check in open untill the ship sails, I know, I used to work for one of them. After looking around for someone, anyone, I found the freight office. The person, whom I supposed was some kind of manager, aknowledged that yes the ship was in fact there, taking on board cargo. But because I have been so dumb and gotten stuck on the M25 there ... Read the complete review
