      Very helpful

Only way to travel to the island

Sunferries is the passenger ferry service between Townsville and Magnetic Island.

The ferry terminal itself has a ticket office, lockers to store your luggage if your a traveller and just popping over to the island for a day, and theres also a small cafe which isnt too expensive.

The actual ferry crossing takes twenty minutes and can range between very smooth to rough so make sure you sit outside if you get seasick on a rough day. The staff on the ferry are very friendly and helpful especially if you are a blonde with a huge rucksack.

It costs $29 for a return ticket, which can be used as a return up to a month later. You can also get a family ticket or student ticket. If you book through Bungalow Bay hostel on a Magnetic Escape package you can get a free ferry crossing included, and the other hostels offer similar deals.

The sunferries link is a great way to bring tourists to Magnetic Island, and it is a lot quicker and cheaper than using the Fantasea car ferry which is $120 for locals and $160 for tourists.
