Birka Cruises ... BIRKA & WHERE THEY GO - Birka Cruises operates the Birka Princess ship between the Stockholm and Mariehamn in Åland, and has been doing so since I was born in 1971 (giving my age away here). Åland is an island part way between Sweden and Finland, the entire trip takes normally just 24 hours. These mini-cruises operate all year round with crossings 7 days a week, with a few exceptions. Silja Line ... pius amount of wine and beer consumed the night before. Just made it in time at 8.50 for breakfast, with just 10 minutes to spare. We weren´t the only ones though, I overhead an American guiding one of her colleagues to the dining room by mobile phone at 8.55. There was no bacon, but plenty of eggs (oh, eggs are white in Sweden), ham, Swedish sausages, cheese and things, which I tried. The ship was in Finland. We were under the impression that it was going back within the hour, but having quizzed the information desk, found it was going nowhere until 5.00 Finnish time. Novair ... never heard of Novair until we recently took a flight from Stockholm Arlanda to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. I'm not sure how useful this review will be for you as you are unlikely to fly with them unless you are based in one of the Scandinavian countries such as Sweden, Norway or Denmark. Novair flies from various airports in Scandinavia to destinations such as Fuerteventura, Tenerife, Kos etc as well as places further afield including Thailand, the Dominican Republic and India.
