Thompson Cruises - Thompson Destiny

Me and my family (Ages 73, 45, 42, 20, 17) have recently returned from a one week cruise on Thompson Destiny, "Mediterranean renaissance" trip.

We booked Thompson Destiny as they do have one formal dress evening and we wanted to experience this, as well as combining city breaks and beach holiday.

We were not disappointed. The entertainment was enjoyed by all of us, the comedian was excellent and the dancing shows were professional and very entertaining. The food was delicious and available any time day or night.

Passengers were mainly older people, and so not a lot of people the same age as my son and daughter, but we did not go in school holidays, so i would imagine in school holidays that there would be a lot more younger people.

Also the ship was a little dated - a bit 80's, but was spotlessly clean. The cabins are small but this was not a problem.

We booked through the internet it was cheaper than the price they gave us when we went into the travel agents. (we saved about £350).
Also to make it cheaper again you can book your own budget flight and just pay for the cruise (this works out cheaper, but is less convienient and I dont think the ship would wait if your flight is delayed).

The downside would be, that the excursions were expensive but well organised, because of the cost we travelled independently on several of the port stops.

Overall we had a fantastic holiday and would travel with Thompson Cruises again.
