Advantages: Nice Trains, Not many delays, Staff friendlyness

Disadvantages: Stations, Rugby & Football match days

I live in Merthyr Tydfil, and I have travelled with Valley Lines many times. Here is my opinion on their stations on the Merthyr Tydfil route.

MERTHYR TYDFIL
This station is hardly ever open and there are no correct facilities. No toilets, but there is a small shelter. It's quite a modern station and it has a nice indoor waiting room but it is hardly ever open.

PENTREBACH
This station has a very large platform and has just had a shelter built, I haven't yet seen it up close but it does look big and nice. The station is another one which does not have a toilet.

TROEDYRHIW
Not a very modern station yet it's alright, does not have the correct facilities.

MERTHYR VALE
Practically the same as Troedyrhiw.

QUAKERS YARD
A nicer and bigger station than Troedyrhiw and it has a shelter and a toilet.

ABERCYNON SOUTH
A much bigger station with all the correct facilities.

PONTYPRIDD
This station is very big and mostprobably the busiest except Cardiff and has all the correct facilities, yet on my last visit there the security was at a very low level, we had boys throwing big rocks at us and I really was NOT happy about that. Yet the station is situated in a most convenient place, just a little bit of security and modernising wouldn't go a miss!

TREFOREST
A nice station with a platform and a shelter but no toilets or anything.

TAFF'S WELL
A nice modern station but only has very small toilets.

RADYR
One of the nicest stations on the route, with high security but only small toilets.

LLANDAF
Same as Taffs Well.

CATHAYS
The station at the beginning of Cardiff but yet again does not have toilets.

CARDIFF QUEEN STREET
A small station for the amount of passengers it handles, yet it has many correct facilities, toilets, cafe, waiting room, fully sheltered. A very nice station with high security.

TRAINS
Many of their trains are nicely done out with comfortable seats but yet a few have not been done out and are not all that comfortable. Also a few more trains wouldn't go a miss because many of their services tend to be overcrowded.

SERVICE
On Rugby and Football match days I don't think their services are very well handled. I was stuck on Cardiff Central Train Station platform for 2 HOURS, yes that's right, 2HOURS, because they only put 2 carriages on the most popular route on the line and the train was full. Which resulted in me arriving home at 11:00 p.m.
I was NOT too pleased with this and hope it doesn't happen again.

OVERALL
Well done Valleys. For a train company which operates over such a small area they are very good. I think I would recommend them to anyone but if you do hope to travel with them don't turn up at the station to early!!!!! Unless it's a Rugby or Football match day.

Thank you for reading..... Please leave a comment for me to improove my opinion!!!

I live in Neath but use the valley line trains a lot. The stations are so small not many have facilities but I guess I'm thankful they are so regular as I don't have a car!
