Virgin TrainsNewest Review: ... Pendolino, distinctively liveried in Virgin colours of Red, Yellow and Silver/Grey these trains look good from the outside. Inside you'll find a typical train layout of paired seats, and at intervals table's with their seats facing one another - these are highly prized by almost all travellers as they offer greater leg room and access to a plug socket if you are lucky enough to get the window ... more |

It's coming up for the party season again so I have recently spent rather a lot of time making travel arrangements, one method of travel I seem to utilise rather alot these days comes in the shape of the West Coast Mainline, between Manchester/Stockport and London Euston, while in a previous life time I was very familiar with the Manchester/Edinburgh section of this same line, this route is operated by Virgin Trains and has been for several years. Thankfully these days the booking process is somewhat easier than it used to be, having to go in to the train station to book tickets I always found a somewhat draining experience as there was invariably a queue of ... I have used Virgin Trains on a couple of different occassions now with my main one I can offer opinion on when I travelled from Glasgow to Birmingham New Street about 3 years ago. Virgin trains are one of the big players in the rail franchise game and have made a huge investment since they won the rights to the franchises it operates on the development and implementation of new high speed tilting trains across the network (with Richard Branson campaigning for the improvements to the lines to be done to a higher standard to allow for the trains being invested in to actually reach their true potential but being turned down due to cost involved). Virgin trains are a fantastic company. I travelled on them every weekend from my home to my ex-bfs and I can say they were the best company that I travelled with. I normally start my virgin experience from Birmingham New street. Were all of the staff have always been really positive and excellent customer service has been shown. I have arthritis and they have always helped me when I have struggled with baggage. The reps are excellent in providing information on the best available ticket for your journey and also the cheapest. Once up on the train I have found them to be extremely comfortable and easy to locate your carriage if you have reserved a seat, which ... Read the complete review

I'm a big fan of Virgin as a company. I've found that nearly always they somehow manage to offer a higher level of quality or service, without any massive difference on price, and again Virgin Trains are no exception. ----------------------------------------- TICKETS As with all the train companies the booking and purchasing of tickets is standardised and so there is obviously no difference between one company to the next. The prices of the tickets, relatively speaking, I have found pretty reasonable. Generally I do think that compared to many of our European neighbours train travel is exceptionally expensive, however I would ... Read the complete review

Note: I am reviewing the Virgin Trains website, not the actual train service. Although that is incredibly good. The Virgin Trains website is probably the easiest and best website to book train tickets in the United Kingdom. From the first time I ever booked tickets here, this has been the only place I look. No other website competes with Virgin Trains. The website is simple and straight forward, that even a monkey could book tickets. All you have to do is enter your "To and From" details, whether you want a single or return and the dates you will be departing and returning. Then you get the choice of what times you want to be traveling on ... Read the complete review
