I think Virgin are great...BUT!...only if you get good decent priced tickets!! Virgin are waaaaayyy overpriced but if you get in there early you can grab some bargains!!

I have been to London for £12 from Liverpool.... and Milton Keynes for £8 from Liverpool and many others, but these are my most recent trips.

I have always found the trains to be exceptionally clean, modern and the staff polite. I usually try to reserve my ticket as soon as i can that way you can get fantastic deals and reserve your seat too!. They have trolley service and also a carriage for refreshments like coffee and sandwiches. The toilets have always been exceptionally clean too. The seats are comfy and there are power points for your laptop and other gadgets.

I have never experienced first class, even though you can upgrade for a small fee...but why? when u have a reserved seat in a perfectly nice carriage. I have noticed on the tannoy systems that first class get breakfasts and other privilidges...im sure they only announce it on the tannoy to make them feel special!

I am mostly impressed by Virgin trains ultimaltely because of the speed they travel... i got to London from Liverpool in a little over 3 hours which is fab. The tilty high speed trains are great and very comfy. They are so high tech they can reverse too!!(which i didnt know about). We got stuck on some failed points so instead of waiting for the tracks to be manually re-pointed the train reversed and went another way...all the while the virgin lady keeping us updated on what was happening and how it would affect our ongoing journeys and connections.

I have not experience Virgin on short journeys so cannot comment on the standard of them trains.

All in all i have had a pleasant experience on Virgin, however like i said before i do find it to be way overpriced but i book my tickets via trainline.com and always manage to bag a bargain.
