Advantages: They are trying to bring things up to date

Disadvantages: They are doing it a bit slowly

Although Virgin are one of the most pilloried train companies, I can see what they are trying to do and I think they are improving. Train fares in general are rather expensive but Virgin do do some decent discounts, and you can order your tickets online, which is good. The journeys themselves can take longer than "predicted" on the timetable, and the trains are often old and horrible, but I like the stuff in the buffet car, which is fairly reasonably priced.
I think in the future Virgin could be one of the better train companies around, and although they suck a little bit at the moment we shouldn't be critical just for the sake of it.
