A few weeks ago I was browsing the Argos catalogue and realised that I couldn’t get what I wanted off the website or within a 120 mile radius of my home. I was very upset as it would mean travelling for 2 hours + to get to the store. After asking my dad and then my partner to drive me to the store (I cannot drive) I realised that I would either ... As a Scot living in Reading I've had to travel back and forth across the border quite a lot, as well as travelling to various other places in between. This means I've had quite a lot of experience with Virgin Trains over the past few months. I've travelled using both First and Standard Class and overall my experiences have been quite ... Usually I am always someone who when travelling I do like to get the journey over as quick as possible so I do tend to opt for the more pricey method of travel if it is quicker. Even if it is a UK journey if I can fly to the destination I normally will but since becoming a student and with studying in England I have found that nowadays I cannot ... Read the complete review

I frequently use Virgin Trains to travel between Manchester and London. The service is regular, fast and generally reliable. The problem is the price: a return before 9.30am is over £200!!!!
It's all very well to say there are cheaper advance tickets, but often business travelers like myself simply can't book in advance, or don't know when they are returning.
It seems it is OK to overcharge such people.

Travellers on the Edinburgh/Penzance line have every reason to hate them They are normally hugely overcrowded (sometimes to the point where it is physically impossible to get on them). They have appalling luggage space - totally inadequate, so the aisles get filled with luggage. Being a monopoly supplier, they are incredibly expensive ... Read the complete review

Virgin Trains promise everything, yet still deliver very little. The grand press launches, the smiling dolly birds, and where are we now? Well not much different from the days of Intercity! At least they promised very little and delivered it. We have cross country, with "state of the art" diesel "tilting" trains. Well these ... Read the complete review

Virgin Trains. It's like Marmite, either you love it or hate it. I have used Virgin many times in the past few months to travel up from London to Manchester. I always book well in advance, hence I get cheaper tickets. As a YP railcard holder, I can get fares for £8.25 each way. I cannot complain at this at all. I have even splashed out on First ... As an occasional user of Virgin Trains, I have seen an improvement in the service since they launched the new Pendolinos on the West Coast Main Line. They are fast, clean, comfortable and (on the occasions I have used them) have been reliable. The only problem is the delays caused by the upgrading of the west coast main ... Well I regularly travel with Virgin Trains on it's Euston to Manchester Picadilly line because it is both the fastest, easiest and cheapest way to get to where i want to go. Each time i travel with them, I never really have any problems at all. I don't think all the trains have been replaced yet but the new trains are very nice and ... Read the complete review

I became a regular traveller on virgin trains 2 years ago when i met my boyfriend. At first i used to get on the arriva trains but then thought well why dont i travel in style and get to my destination more quickly, rather than sitting on a noisy bus on tracks. I dont bother booking my tickets as its always a last minute thing as to ... Read the complete review

i think that people are unfair to richard branson. back when he won the franchise to operatate the west coast and cross country lines, he took over the weakest run rail service in britain. ive used virgin for a long time and i have only ever had one problem with virgin, and that was when we went to euston and we had to get one of the old ... I didn't think to review Virgin until I read somone elses opinion and I can't believe I have neglected this review for so long! This is probably because I HATE VIRGIN TRAINS WITH IMMENSE PASSION and they probably hate me too. When it comes to business in general you can?t help but admire the empire that Richard Branson has built up. You only have to enter the word Virgin in the product search on dooyoo to see the vast array of products and services he has in his portfolio. But out of all of them the one that seems to come under constant scrutiny is his train company, ... Read the complete review

As a fairly regular traveller on Virgin Trains I thought I would share a few tips that I have picked up: 1) Pick up a copy of the passengers charter and carry it with you on the train. It is full of useful information for example, did you know: - delayed for more than one hour waiting for a train at a station, Virgin will (where ... Read the complete review

I have chosen this title because of Virgin Trains new trains- The Voyager and Pendolino. I have travelled with them 4 times. I have never got to experience the new trains but they surely do look nice. There punctuality will probably get better as the new trains are smoother and more modern. That is the main reason why Virgin Trains get a low ... Read the complete review

I booked a return from Birmingham to Bristol about a week ago. An absolute bargain at £12 for booking a week in advance. I sat back, relaxed and phoned my girlfriend, currently living in Bristol, that I had everything booked and paid for thanks to Virgin's efficient and easy-to-navigate website. Girlfriend: "I can't believe ... Read the complete review

It seems like everyone enjoys a bit of Virgin-bashing these days. It’s like a national pastime. (Ooh er missus!) I feel a bit sorry for Richard Branson really. Here’s a bloke who’s made something of himself and is quite happy to give a bit back to the country that spawned him. But for all his good intentions, he ... Read the complete review
