easyBus
by lucinda morrison
My email to easybus (there is no way on contacting them by telephone)...
"I travelled from Seville to London Gatwick today on the 25/01/12 with Easyjet. My bus connection to Earls Court was at 15.30. I arrived at approx. 15.05 and waited with other passengers (probably about 16- 20 people). The bus driver pulled up and ... let a couple of people on the bus, then checked everyone else's tickets. When I told him that I had a seat for this bus (15.30), he said that he was "letting people on, who had waited the longest". Bearing in mind that the Terms and Conditions on your ticket state that "A seat is reserved only for the time you have booked", I was not happy. The fact that other passengers have missed their original bus should have no bearing on this matter. He said that we should wait for the next bus (and he had no idea when it would arrive or how many seats there would be on the bus). This was not an option as one of the other passengers, a Spaniard, told me that he had already waited 2 hours in the 2 degrees freezing temperature. As the buses start their journey's at the North Terminal, I decided to check to see whether it may be easier to board there. Once again, there were 16-20 people waiting. As I had not been allowed on my original bus, I would now be at the back of the queue, behind passengers, who had "waited longer". At this point, I admitted defeat and decided to rely on Southern Rail and London Underground to get me home costing me £15.20 but more importantly, wasting my time. As I live near to West Brompton, I really liked the idea of this service (I have a house in Spain and regularly use the Faro/Seville routes). I can walk to the bus stop and avoid Victoria Station. Your drver looked under pressure, lacked customer service skills and should probably be a candidate for any upcomng anger management courses. Unlike your Airline Crew, your drivers have no name badges and this individual was unwilling to give me his name. To sum up, in my opinion, this kind of service could really damage your brand (I have had a look at some online reviews and they are not positive."
Unsurprisingly, they said that they would contact me with 10 working days but never did. A complant has now been sent to ....

Birmingham New Street Train Station
by hunnybabyuk
Birmingham New Street is the biggest of the mainline stations in Birmingham but its very old and tired looking, very dark and dirty.
The station is where Virgin & London Midland trains run to/from London, around the West Midlands and also Cross Country run across the UK so a very busy station.
As you enter the ... station its rather small for the amount of passengers in the forecourt area, there is a large travel information board helping you locate which platform your train will leave from and also information on arrivals for people who maybe meeting someone off a train, this is a bright & clear board so very easy to read. There's also two double sided stands with leaflets & timetables on here along with a large travel centre if people need assistance. I didn't so didn't go in but having a quick look as I walked past it looked dark and unwelcoming.
After getting a Burger Kings brekkie, which is one of plenty of eateries and stores in the station to grab a bit to eat, a paper or drink, I walked towards the platform gates, these are old wooden doors with staff at to check tickets rather than modern automatic ticket barriers like at other mainline stations. The lady on the gate was smiling and friendly, I asked her which direction platform 3A was and she smiled and pointed me in the right direction, very friendly no problems there.
The platforms are old and dark, its down under the station that the trains go so rather dingy and misserable looking, could do with brighter lights and being cleaner, but the area was free of litter.
The station is undergoing a massive refurbishment so I look forward to hopefully dramatic change in the future.
Would use again but only if I must it wasn't a pleasant station but wasn't that bad neither. Read the complete review |

London Euston Train Station
by hunnybabyuk
I have used Euston station a few times before and have never had any problems with it.
It's not the best looking station, parts of it are rather dated and dull looking but its large and bright mostly and is easy to navigate around, huge signs hang above to let you know where to go for different things like where toilets are, ... buses are and the underground and also directions to platforms and the information & ticket office.
I arrived in Euston recently and was from train to outside in minutes, very fast. Arrived on far platform and the ticket barrier was in operation, this I think is great as it combats the fare evasion problem, which stops revenue coming into the railways meaning we all end up paying more. They are easy to use just pop your ticket in the slot, staff were on hand to help too if you have problems.
I went into the TFL travel office to grab a tube map incase my phone died as it's been a while since I was in London, there was plenty of leaflets there with info on and also staff on hand.
I then went over to look in the travel centre (operated by Virgin Trains) again plenty of leaflets with information about train services, cycling and also a leaflet about walking around Euston which was handy. Staff didn't seem approachable though as 3 of them were stood looking bored having a personal conversation with each other, I did still interrupt and ask for directions as it's ages since I had been and forgot my way, the lady was helpful though and pointed me in the direction but I felt I had disturbed her, not that its not her job.
The station has plenty of places to grab food & drink, with the usual outlets at mainline stations being present at Euston, as I had eat at Birmingham I didn't need these but have used them before and they offer everything you could want. There's also stores to grab magazines & papers, drinks and snacks.
I would use Euston again its very easy to navigate, it has ample space for the hoards of passengers using it everyday and it has plenty of amenities if you need them. It's also very well connected to the London Underground and London Buses networks. Read the complete review |
