“ Route: Hounslow, Hounslow West, Cranford, Harlington Corner, Heathrow Airport North, Harmondsworth, Longford, Colnbrook, Langley, Slough. „
I live in Slough - and so am lucky? enough to have a London United bus that runs between here and Hounslow, giving me (allegedly) quick and easy access to the Piccadilly Line and a cheaper alternative than going into Slough to get the train to Paddington. Well! four timetable changes later we finally have a service every 15mins, although most mornings you'll stand at a leaking bus shelter waiting 40 mins for three full buses to turn up at once, then endure a 30 min slow agonising crawl through traffic. Out of London, we pay £1.20 for a journey of any unwalkable length, and although half the price of the local Beeline services, it's just not worth it. Dirty messy buses, full of teenagers with nothing better to do blagging free rides with fake bus passes, or whole families screaming foreign and runing your peace. Drivers are the worst, rude, ignorant about fares and times, inconsiderate to older people who need time to get to a seat before the bus pulls away, and generally abusive in the face of wrongdoing. I hate the bus service, but at 3 miles or so to work, I don't have time or energy to walk there and back again daily, and in rubbis weather what choice do you have? Two complaints about abusive drivers and tardiness have done nothing to assuage my belief that London United don't care, and I despair of the whole situation. Just another reason to want to leave the London area.
