Advantages: cheap, good if you havent got a car

Disadvantages: usually late, slow

Not being able to drive gives me the unfortunate disadvantage of travelling around on busses. For everyone else that has travelled on a bus it is stainable. But a lot more time consuming and uncomfortable. First I?ll start with the local busses which I my case are Lincolnshire ones. Obviously I can?t really talk about all the local busses all over the country. One that would take forever and two the only local busses I?ve been on are the ones in Lincolnshire

~~~~LOCAL BUSSES~~~
In Lincolnshire there are a number of bus companies but I?ve only been on three different companies so I?ll tell you about those.
~~~Roadcar~~~
I go on these busses most frequently. As there is an hourly service from my small town to a larger town of Grimsby? Which has lots more clothes shops and interesting places so that?s why I go there so often. Like I said the service runs every hour and tails off to every hour and a half in the evenings.

The distance is around 18 miles but when you go on the bus its actually longer because it takes lots of detours to go through the villages. Because of this it takes around an hour to get there ( and costs £2.50) although it takes only 30 minutes if your going by car, but again that?s a disadvantage of taking the bus.

The busses are clean to start off with but as you get a lot of children on the busses by themselves it can get littered up quite quickly. But that is no fault of the company. There is also a no smoking policy as well although on the high school run this obviously doesn?t apply as you get lots of teenagers doing it and when you get off the bus you end up stinking of smoke.

They tend to use the newer buses in the mid morning and mid afternoon as these are the busiest times and busses can get quite full so double-deckers run at these times. Some of the busses have coach seats. Which in my opinion are far better as you can lean your head against the seat.

Pricing is reasonab
le and half price is charged to OAPS and children under 16 which is better than the other services, children can get on cheaper for longer.

The staff vary. The majority of them are quite nice and I?ve become friends with one of them. But sometimes you do come across the ?grumpy old bus driver?

One complaint I have to make. Although really it was nobodies fault. Once when I was travelling on a double-decker upstairs the front large window imploded and shattered down the bus. We never knew what caused it. Fortunately I got away with a couple of scratches but the girls who were sat right at the front had big gashes in their legs from the glass

~~~~~Stagecoach~~~
These mainly run in Grimsby and cleethorpes and although the journeys are short. 5 miles max the chargers are quite high. About 90p for a 3 mile ride. These are very regular and come every 10- 15 minutes which is convenient but that is because they are more in demand.
The busses tend to be cleaner than the roadcar ones and I don?t know how they do this unless they get someone to clean the busses halfway through the day.
They have had some new busses bought for them as some were burnt out one night when the depot was vandalised. These are very modern. There are large spaces at the front where pushchairs can be placed in and secured without the infant getting out of their chair? This also applies to wheelchairs. The only disadvantage is there is less seating space
The staff are no way near as nice as the ones on road car? the majority of them are fat old men and grunt instead of talk.
~~~Amiville~~

This is the worst of the lot. I only happened to come across this because I was visiting my friend in this tiny village and this was the only bus running. The price was reasonable. 1.80 for bout 9 miles. But straight away I encountered was that he didn?t have change for a fiver but that was all I had. So I sat the entire journey without any
change and when I got there it found out that he did have change but he?d already counted it? and this was at 9.00 in the morning then he was bad mouthing me to other passengers

As these are all typical English busses they always tend to run late some up to half an hour but really that doesn?t bother me
