East London Line ... Tunnel, which is the oldest part of the Underground's infrastructure. The line was originally operated by six different railway companies (later reduced to two) but became part of the London Underground in 1933 and came into public ownership in 1948. The line is currently being extended and will be shut down from 22 December 2007 to June 2010 to facilitate the works.
