Advantages: Frequent and efficient service

Disadvantages: Not convinced by the interior decoration (green and yellow)!

Having lived in an area which is almost served entirely by 'Worst Great Western' trains, being able to travel with London Midland was a breath of fresh air, in more ways than one.

I have experienced these trains now on two lines in the Midlands: between Birmingham New Street and Hereford, and on the Cross-City Line between University and Lichfield City. The trains are efficient and above all, frequent. They are smooth and quiet, and the interiors are well-kept and clean. I'm not convinced by the interior decoration (green and yellow), but as I say, they are clean which is a bonus these days.

I found the staff to be helpful and knowledgeable; announcements both on the train and on the stations were clear and informative. I used the trains towards the middle part of the day, and they were almost empty; however, I suspect that at peak times, they can get crowded.

Having travelled all over the country by train, I have to say that London Midland would rank near the top of any satisfaction table: they are impressively modern and a pleasure to use. In times when we are encouraged to use public transport more and more, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the service to potential new customers.

Summary: No hesitation in recommending the service
