Good Old Metro (Manchester Metrolink)

Because of certain commitment I have to travel in Manchester on Metrolink every now and then. GMPTE provides a decent website for its Metro service and the map is easy to follow. For both locals and tourists Metrolink is a convenient choice to travel around Manchester, as it covers a good distance in the area.

However, I do not recommend to use Metro in the city centre for it moves very slowly and there are free bus service around. (Though Metro in city centre is under improvement at the moment, situation may change when it is finished.) Another disadvantage is the old compartments used by the Metro. They are small and very packed especially during rush hours.

For those who have to travel frequently on the Metro, the price for the pass is acceptable. But for people like me who only get on it once in a while, it is a bit costly considering the comfort of the train and stops. Hopefully this can be improved after the maintanence.

Summary: Metrolink is an easy way around Manchester but not the best.
