Transport in Leeds is an experience, but whether it's a good one or not is another question.
I have visite Leed's a few times, I love it as a place, it's great for shopping but using buses is probably not a good idea.
Theres plenty of buses in & out of the city and the city also has a free bus service which I believe First Buses are currently running it onbehalf of West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (WYPTE or WYMetro as it' known locally). The bus runs every 5 or 6 minutes all around the city centre & it's free, the city centre is very big so it's good when travelling to various points at the other side of the city. However, don't expect a happy or friendly welcome from the drivers, I have used this bus a couple of times before travelling between the bus station & train station, as I am not from Leed's I asked one driver how long it was going to take him to get to the train station from the bus station as I had a train to catch & it may of been quicker if I walked, he tutted at me, checked his sheet & gave me a time, I knew was wrong as it was taking far too long but I sat down, he said would be about 50 minutes, but it took 10 minutes so he hadn't even bothered to check it properly, he rudely replied to me with 50 minutes & gave me a really dirty look. Fair enough the bus is free but still bad servive & First run a lot of the centre's bus network so not good publiciity for there company. I aint really used any other bus in the centre in the past few years but I remember them being rude & unhelpful, the buses were old, but they have got a lot better with newer buses now in operation on most routes but drivers are rude & unfriendly, even staff at the bus station are rude too.
Overall I find transport in the area bad, with shockingly rude drivers on buses and bad traffic congestion.
well, leeds buses are in fact something totally different. It seems that the laws of the road no longer apply and if the bus is running late it may not always stop. For some reason buses always go through red lights and always pull out in front of the traffic (hint, don't learn to drive in leeds, it is insane). Bus drivers will always pull away from the bus stop quickly just as you are trying to get up the stairs with arms full of stuff. It is always quite funny seeing someone else drop their things as long as it is happening to you. Not all bus drivers are like that but some are not that helpful when you as the about things. Hint buy a weekly pass. it is often worth the money and it saves so much bother if you are in leeds for a while. all i can say is get on a bus with an open mind and have fun. My most popular past time on the bus was sleeping. Also just be careful of the buses late at night. I got on one and a strange guy got his tackle out on it.
