Advantages: Gives piece of mind to avoid excess baggage charges
Disadvantages: Makes your arms ache if you're not that strong
After getting stung for excess baggage coming back from Crete last year, I decided it was time to invest in a slightly smaller and definitely lighter suitcase. But to make doubly sure, I bought a digital luggage scale.
After cashing my old mobile into Mazuma, and getting £22 Argos voucher for it, I bought the scales for £19.49 at my local store.
Have to say, the first ones didn't work. But Argos were happy to replace them. The second ones work a treat.
Ok, here's what you do. You unsnap the clip, and slip the strap through your suitcases handle. Snap the clip together again. Turn the scales on, and lift.
It takes a few seconds to weigh, so make sure the lifter is pretty strong!
When it's registered the weight, it will beep. Set your case down and read the display.
Simple.
They are also small enough to slip into your hand-luggage so you can take them with you to weight before you return home.
I managed to weight both of our cases myself, and i'm not that strong. The scales handle it just about big enough for one hand, and you can't actually get two through, but I managed alright by holding my wrist with the other hand.
It may feel a bit longer waiting than a few seconds for that beep, but have faith, it will beep!
In my opinion, the next thing every traveller should buy after the suitcase
Summary: A must for every overseas travellers
