Advantages: Gives support to head
Disadvantages: The flight is still long!
Boots Travel pillow
On a recent long haul flight, I decided it was time to over haul some of my travelling accessories and try to make myself comfortable. A brief foray into Boots whilst buying travel bits and bobs found this travel pillow.
With visions of 9 or 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep I opened the pillow out of its quite well sealed plastic casing.
The pillow itself is a kind of grey colour and comes with a matching bag (both of them are velour finished so feel soft). The pillow itself is deflated when I get it out of the pack and when I inflate it, it is one of those shaped ones which go round your neck. It can be inflated so that it's quite big but I find it most comfortable a bit softer. Once inflated you can sit with it wrapped round your neck or lie to the side with your head on it. Whichever way you do it, the flight will be just as long!
The pillow is pretty self explanatory so doesn't need lots of instructions- simply blow it up to the comfort level which is best for you, close the valve. To deflate the pillow, open the valve, let the air out and store in matching carry bag.
To clean the pillow and matching pouch, simply wipe them clean but don't put them in the washing machine.
The pillow costs £3.99 from Boots stores. I have looked and it doesn't seem to be available on the Boots website.
WHAT I THOUGHT?
I do find it difficult to sleep on long flights and more than anything hate it when I can feel my head lolling to the side and then if I do doze of, there is a sudden jerking movement as my head flops- guaranteed to wake me up! Although it doesn't help me to sleep, if I wrap this round my neck, it does feel more comfortable when I am sitting for long periods on the plane. I found that a number of times I dozed off whilst watching the films and my head was kept in place, which is usually to be recommended.
The pillow can be blown to whatever firmness is required and thankfully is easy to blow up...don't think I could stand something which needed lots of puff when coping with the inevitable oxygen deprivation!
So, for anyone wanting a low cost good quality travel pillow which keeps head in place, this is recommended.
