Advantages: Good in theory
Disadvantages: Itchy, and constricting
Ahh! I must rant about these.
The travel pillow, always one of those things you see in airports and think "Oh, that's a good idea" but you never go ahead and buy it. That's probably a good decision.
Ok, so they are quite a good idea in theory. The pillows themselves aren't all that bad. They fit around your neck comfortably, they feel quite soft with their felt coating, and it means you dont have to lean your head against the window and annoy the rest of the passengers with your constant banging-head-against-window while the vehicle is in motion.
I got one of these myself. There are a range of colours, mine is navy blue, quite embarrassing but still comfortable none the less.
However, there are a few downsides to the design of this amazing creation. The hems dig into your neck and itch like crazy, and because there is a big colourful pouch of air around your neck, you can only keep your head in one position. So, you look a fool. When you dribble in your sleep it WILL go down your chin and thus down your neck, soaking the collar of your shirt and thus making a mess. I'm quite sure it puts your head in the perfect position to increase the volume of your snoring, too.
The next time you travel, you WILL forget to take it with you. It'll end up in the attic more than likely, and you will find it a few years later and give it to Oxfam.
Maybe this is just a personal story of mine, but if it happened to me, it can happen to anyone!
Summary: If you travel every day and dont mind looking a fool, then it's for you.
