I love memory foam mattresses because they are just so comfortable but I have tried a memory foam pillow before thinking it would be as nice and I absolutely hated it as I just found it to be so uncomfortable.
Saying that I have a memory foam travel pillow which might not be the most comfortable but the firmness that I hated in the pillow for bed works really well in a travel pillow as it gives me more support than other memory foam pillows that I have tried.
The pillow is a bit firmer than you might expect so it might be a little bit too firm for some people to use on their neck as you don’t just soak into it like you might with a softer pillow but I actually like that in a travel pillow because I only really use them to keep my posture as correct as possible so that I don’t end up getting sore muscles. The memory foam will move slightly to the right position once you put some weight on it so it supports well but I don’t think this is the one to buy if you are looking for something that is going to be soft and cosy because it isn’t really like that.
The pillow is U shaped so that you can use it to support your neck and shoulders whilst on a flight or sitting in the car and I think it gives great support. You can also bend the pillow so that you can use it to support your lower back. I think on the lower back is really the best place for this pillow because it feels so comfortable and the support it gives is great and stops you from ending up in a position that is going to be sore on your back.
I really like this pillow but it won’t be for everyone as I don’t think it is the softest and the cosiest one that you can buy as the memory foam is quite a bit firm but it is excellent at giving you support whilst travelling and should help you from getting sore muscles when you arrive at your destination.
I bought this online for travelling as I saw it had loads of great reviews and I paid £12.99 for it. I am not sure I agree with all the reviews as most praised it for its comfort and I personally think there are more comfortable pillows available but if you are looking for something that gives you plenty of support then this one is a good option.
I am not really a big sleeper on aeroplanes, but i felt like I had a travel pillow missing from my life all the same. I have attempted to sleep on those blow up versions before to no avail. They are just so uncomfortable and way too firm, so when I came across this memory foam version I was sold. I have had a memory foam pillow on my bed for quite some time and I like it, so I didn't have much hesitation in buying this travel version. I wish I hadn't bothered really!
The Restwell travel pillow is supposed to be designed to do all kinds of wonderful things like correct your body posture and support your head and neck, which is probably how they justify the price tag to be perfectly honest. i actually found that it did make me sit up properly, but that is not necessarily something that I want in terms of being able to sit comfortably in an aeroplane seat. I found that it did support my neck and that the memory foam was really good for that. It did seem to fit around the shape of my neck and I found that I could sink into it a little bit rather than there being no leeway like the inflatable ones. It is really quite firm though so it isn't like you lean on it and sink right into luxurious comfort or anything like that!
It has another function in that you can stretch it a little bit and use it to support your lower back which is a much more effective way of using it in my opinion. I discovered this from reading some other reviews of it and it really does work, although it kind of puts it out of shape for using around your neck afterwards, which didn't bother me really.
The pillow isn't widely available now. I bought it from amazon.co.uk and paid just over ten pounds for it although it isn't available on that particular site anymore. I have found it in other places for around the fifteen pound mark (plus postage) on other sites. To be honest I baulked a bit at paying ten pounds for it and there is no way I would pay fifteen pounds for it. It is ok but not brilliant and not worth that kind of money in my opinion.
I recently took a long haul flight to America and knew I was going to need a neck pillow as the seats on airplanes are so uncomfortable. You can't lie back because that puts your head at a really unnatural angle that, if for some unbelievable reason you do manage to fall asleep like that, you wake up with an excruciatingly sore neck. I've had this happen to me in the past and had shooting pains down my neck for a few minutes after I woke up, not fun so I knew before I took this return flight that I wanted a pillow. One leg of the flight was an overnight flight too and so I at least wanted to try and have a few hours sleep so the jet lag wouldn't be too bad.
I found this pillow on Amazon and order and delivery was quick and efficient as always with amazon so it came in plenty of time for my flight.
What I love about this pillow is that it is U shaped to it wraps around your neck so if you want to lean your head to the left or the right and still have perfect support this pillow will do that for you. It's cool because there is nothing to keep it in place around your neck but it does actually stay there really well and you can get up and walk around and the pillow will still stay on your neck. I did this a number of times on the flight and it was quite handy to know where it was and have it there when I needed it.
The outside of the pillow is made of a comfortable pillow which felt nice against my face and skin. It wasn't scratchy or uncomfortable and you could lay on it for quite a while which was nice. The inside is made of a lovely memory foam so although soft, the pillow is not soft and squigy and does not collapse as soon as you lay on it. I find the memory foam really helps it to keeps its shape and this is ideal when you are just using it as a rest for your head and to keep your neck well supported. You can really mould this to fit around you and then it bounces back and gives you the support you need.
My kids also ended up using this pillow for some of the flights too as it was the perfect size for their little heads to fit in the gap and have a nice sleep on as their curl up in their seats.
The pillow was a little expensive, I think I paid in the £20 region but in terms of actually getting some decent sleep on an aeroplane and not being sore when I woke up it was priceless. I definitely recommend this to all travellers and will be taking it in the car with my for long journeys too.
This U Shaped Memory Foan Travel Pillow supports the head, neck and corrects the body posture. It is bandhy and great for use during travel to ease sore muscles and tension.
