Advantages: keeps money and documents safe
When I travel I like to take every precaution to keep my travel documents and money safe. I have a money belt that is very useful for keeping things safe and away from thieves, but I prefer to use a neck wallet to0 keep things safe and away from prying eyes!
Travel neck wallets are widely available from most places that sell travel accessories. I bought mine from a local department store and paid just over £5. I see that Amazon is selling something very similar for £4.39; a bargain in my opinion! The travel wallet I have is made of strong waterproof nylon and has a long cord so it can be worn like a necklace. I prefer to wear my neck wallet underneath my shirt or tee shirt so it's not on view.
My neck wallet has a large central pocket that is big enough to take my passport and travel tickets. There is also a zipped compartment for coins and notes. There are several credit card slots also included. The wallet folds shut and is held in place by a Velcro fastening. The wallet is comfortable to wear, even when it is full. I have travelled all over the world and used my neck wallet without any problems, unlike friends who have fallen victim to pick pockets. If you intend to buy a neck wallet then make sure it is waterproof and has a strong neck cord.
The only downside I can think of with my neck wallet is that the passport can be a bit difficult to get out. I guess this makes it safer, but can be annoying when you need to produce it at the airport or ferry port! On the plus side I like the zipped compartment that helps keep my coins separate and easy to access. I also like the way the wallet opens out like a book making it easy to access credit cards and money. The wallet lays flat to your skin and is hardly detectable unless you have the neck cord on view! I like to wear my wallet with a collared shirt so nothing is on show.
Overall I can highly recommend a neck wallet for travelling or even for a day shopping. It helps keep money and documents safe and close to hand. Travel neck wallets are inexpensive and widely available.
