Good gift choice for the ladies

What to get a thirteen year old girl who's rather 'old' for her age as a small gift for the value of about £10 from the Argos catalogue? An obvious selection would have been one of the plethora of nail-painting / make -up sets for sale at Argos, especially as the young person for whom I was shopping has just developed what I'd consider to be an unhealthy interest in cosmetics.

The mother of this child attended a boarding school in the 1970s, where every year, the same selection of antiquated bath salts, bubble-bath gift-sets etc. would circulate as recycled Christmas presents between the girls; notwithstanding that given this background, a gift of toiletries to anyone in this family would be tantamount to an overt declaration of war, the Pineapple Travel Washbag Gift Set, which sells for £9.99, (look in the 'beauty' section of the Argos catalogue) was what I selected for her.

In the gift set you get a 100ml tube of shower gel, another 100ml of body lotion, one of those body puff synthetic sponge things, and a set of bright pink emery boards in the set, all contained in an attractive, shiny bright pink vinyl carry case. It comes from the Argos catalogue shop enclosed in a white cardboard box, which I'd say is slight over-kill as regards packaging, but heigh-ho.

When I go on holiday I pretty much need an entire separate suitcase to contain my travel washbag, so given that the carry case you get with the gift set is only about nine inches long, maybe five inches wide and four inches deep, I don't know how much use it's really going to be in a travelling situation. Particularly as the travel case is a straight-sided sort of lozenge shape, with the type of zip round three sides that means you'll never be able to close it properly if you've stuffed too many contents into it.

I thought this child could at least put e.g. her collection of nail-polishes in the case afterwards, and as they say, 'it's the thought that counts'. I thought this was a pretty good item and wouldn't have been dismayed to receive something similar myself.
