Leger Holidays
by godfrey graver
I needed to get to Floriade and ended up with Leger as I had been with them before so I knew what to expect. Journey down to Dover was Ok for coaches, drivers, drinks etc but a lot of pick ups. Coach crew and coach for the continental part was fine as were the two days of trips - Floriade and Amsterdam. Hotel was also good in Holland but ... 20 mins walk from the town. Disadvantage to me was that you got back to the hotel where an optional meal was available at 8.30 pm - no good for my digestive system, so I made alternative arrangements. All companies seem to give overpriced optional excursions but as I had been to Amsterdam at least 5 times I did not book them but those visiting for the first time were pleased with arrangements. Likewise , those who ate in the Hotel were pleased with the food. Weather was very good so that does make a difference and Floriade was worth visiting.
Problems came on the return journey as we ran early up to Calais - no traffic hold ups - so we sat around for about 2 hours in the refuelling, interchange and ferry port. Then the coach from there to home was terrible. The crew were somewhat abrupt - I think they were tired - and coach looked as if it had been in a battle. Well, it had been on a Battlefield tour and I pity the people who had to endure that. Talking to some who had been on trips to Italy with Leger, - Diano Marina and Lake Garda - gave me the impression that they were very dissatisfied with hotels and travel arrangements. I enjoyed the long weekend break but it works out rather expensive compared with 7 days half board in Spain, Canary Islands, Greece or Turkey. You need to read any brochure with scepticism and go prepared for eventualities. I think that Leger, like many other firms, pay lip service to customer complaints and once they sell you the holiday that's it ! Read the complete review |

Newmarket Holidays Coach Tours

I recently had a week's holiday at the Hotel Miramar in Nazare, Portugal. The hotel in itself is very pleasant with a lovely view over the beach and town of Nazare. However, the evening meals included in the package were truly horrible and were not as described in the literature. There was a fish stew one evening that my cat would have ... refused to eat. Pork ribs that were as tough as old boots, and chicken that was all salt and bones. The lasagne on offer one evening was runny and completely lacking in seasoning. The salad offerings were fresh and good at the start of the week, but as the week went on it became obvious that the salad was being refrigerated and trotted out night after night.
If that was not enough, there was the constant noise of hammering and drilling which made it impossible to sit outside by the pool, and reduced me to going to my room and closing the windows.
When I asked the rep for a complaints form, she said "you are the first to complain" - which I knew was untrue as other guests had already complained. She also wasted considerable amounts of time during trips with unnecessary stops where I suspect she was obtaining a percentage from the businesses where we had coffee, ice creams etc.
The reply I got to my complaint form and letter of complaint was dismissive both of me and my complaints.
If I were you I would avoid booking with this operator. Read the complete review |

National Holidays

Yesterday my son and I returned from Diano Marina , the drivers Richard and Steve made the trip, always helpful and lots of fun. We stayed at the Royal Esplanade and I am sorry that place is awful, it was more like a youth hostel. The owners don't treat the guests well. I did not expect luxury but that is a 2star at best. Having to tick ... your choice every night for the following day was like been in hospital, the food was average to poor. The breakfast ,we gave up and went to the bakery, it was awful. the coffee was already stewed at the start.
It was clean but in need of repair ,the pool was often filthy, if the young chap on the pool spent less time on his mobile and more time taking out the twigs it would be better!
This hotel does nothing for your company, you have excellent coaches and professional drivers, the owners seemed complacent ,it is a long way to go to end up in an unwelcoming hotel. Your drivers have lots of knowledge but are let down by this hotel, its the small things like no coffee in your room, I had to by a jar , their coffee was terrible. The hotel at Metz was a much better standard and welcoming with a decent breakfast and nice bed.
Thank you for your attention, keep up the good work , there must be better hotels in Diano Marina, I did not hear any of the fifty people say a good word about the hotel! Read the complete review |
