      Booked and paid for 7 nights holiday but they changed it to six. Got nowhere with customer services. The failed to respond to emails and argumentative on the phone.

      I have just returned from a holiday to the Renaissance Golden View in Sharm el Sheikh. Everything about this holiday was fantastic! Booking was easy i booked through their call centre with a very helpful lady called Margaret. My paper work arrived within 48 hours and was all very clear and concise. And best of all the holiday itself at the Renaissance Golden View in Sharm was fantastic. I will definitely book with A1travel again

      Booked holiday with a1 travel couple of months ago,Paid in full over £600, for 2 adults self catering in gran canaria.Have tried to move my holiday over the last 2 weeks as personal circumstances at home,am not able to go on that date.The advisors wanted me to pay over the odds on flights costing at least £500 to go in "october" so i asked if i could go next april2013 they told me no flights available biut are still advertised on internet'.Have just tried today as a friend of mine suggested i could justbook the accomodation but they now tell me its too late to do that.Why didn't they suggest that,? that,s their job isn't it? to help the customer.

      This company has charged me for flight ticket, which never provided me.I have been trying to get my money back since, but they keep finding excuses, now It has been 10 months and I still can not get the money back. Its ridiculous.I feel unfairly financially punished by this company

      An absolute waste of space company...avoid at all costs!

      Very rare that I feel strongly enough to write a review but my experience with A1 Travel has left me so angry I just had to share my experience with others, and warn others not to deal with these cowboys. I called up today to check the price of a city break advertised on Teletext. The first bloke I spoke to said the cost was the same but the flight times were different (later outbound, and first thing in the morning inbound, meaning effectively 2 days holiday less). However when I checked on the airport website the flights he quoted don't even exist, only the original ones. This should have been my warning not to ever pick up the phone to them again, but hindsight is a good tool. So I picked up the phone again and confirmed that the price was correct - she took me through the whole process and confirmed that there were no extra charges and that these were the live prices I would get. Great, I thought and gave over my card details, as this looked to be saving a few quid against booking flight and hotel separately. Half way through the transaction she said "Oh hang on, somethings changed" and proceeded to put me on hold for 10 minutes. When she eventually came back to me she said (without any real apology) that the prices had gone up and they were going to have to charge me an extra £60 per person (bearing in mind the advertised price was only £169 per person this was a huge jump!). When I said that I would therefore leave it, she said I couldn't because the flights had been confirmed and were non-refundable. After much to-ing and fro-ing, she eventually let me cancel the accomodation part of the booking, but I was still stuck with the flights, which cost £20 more due to fees than if I had booked directly. £20 for some woman at the other end of the phone to put my card details into the budget airline's website (she admitted this is exactly what they do). In summary: All they do is book what you could do direct and charge you fees for the privelege. Then try and charge you nearly 50% extra after confirming your booking. An absolute waste of space company...avoid at all costs!

      Great, will use A1 again and would recommend.

      I guess from reading other reviews that myself and my partner were lucky. We booked a (£340 each) break to Gran Canaria last week and flew using Ryanair; including transfers and all-inclusive accomodation. The overall package was fantastic and the hotel was a beautiful 4* hotel in a lovely resort called Playa Taurito. I had checked it out prior to booking with A1 and it was better than I could have imagined it to be. I had no problems at all booking with A1 - the travel agent was polite, the whole package booked immediately and a confirmation e-mail was quickly sent to my e-mail address. Transfers were easy, as the transfer agent was English speaking. Everything ran very smoothly and was extremely easy for us. From my experience with A1 travel, I would recommend them, and I would definitely book with them again if I saw a good deal!

      I called them a few weeks ago on a Saturday and waited one hour six minutes for them to answer the call. I was. Then cut off and later received a bill for over £11. I asked them to refund this money and they said they don't do refunds! Be warned about going on a holiday with them. They have been on use what so ever when I have tried to contact them and am shocked at how much they charge per minute for calls made to them.

      Very disappointed with A1 travel, after looking at lots of hotels in Turkey we got it down to 3 or 4 we thought if we went for a 4star rating AI we would be ok, so my partner phoned A1 travel and spoke to a nice lady and she recommended The club Aqua hotel in Gumbet which was on our list. She told us that she had been to this hotel and it was lovely and assured us that we would have a lovely time there. Well we got there fine no problems then they showed us to our room OMG it was worse than a prison cell (not that we have been in one) it was dark,big black damp patches on the walls and the view well that was a brick wall 4ft away from window not what we were expecting so dont know where the view of the gardens were. We went straight back up to reception and complained they said they would give us another room but we would have to wait well we had arrived at about 5,30am. At about 10ish they said they had a room for us but it had to be cleaned I then asked to see the room, it was better than the first one so about 2.30 we were taken to our room. No we were taken to the room opposite I just said No that is not the room we were given. My partner walked back up the steps to reception and got it sorted. The hotel was not the same as the pictures on the net, and the AI was a joke we could not eat most of the food so we ended up eating out all the time. The lack of hot water. that is none in the morning and if you were lucky luke warm evening. The whole place was dirty and you were given your drinks in plastic beakers which were no very hygienic.(not clean and a bit chewed). Not the best holiday especially when we were recomended it by A1 travel.

      customer care would be a good start

      booked for the first time with A1 travel this year. But will not be booking with them again. They got my partners name wrong on the Ryanair ticket and I phoned their helpline up 8 times . They put you hold for ages and when you get through you listen to a commercial I E-Mailed them They said they would phone me back . still waiting. They said their office is open from 9 till 4. So why not say that on the phone instead of putting you on hold. I booked my holiday over the phone, The lady said she trying to find me the best deal. I now know she was talking about the best deal for A1 travel. Once they have got you,re holiday payment. your on your own . They say they have been around for 25 years. How?? and are members of ABTA . Thats like Bob the builder being a member of the master builders association. Sorry A1 travel. never again.

      A1 TRAVEL NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!! A1 TRAVEL (what a joke) NEVER AGAIN WILLL I BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY!!!! After looking for a holiday for myself and 3 companions, 2 who had just gone through the horrors of cancer , and enduring the effects of chemotherapy. I came across A1 TRAVEL advertising THE LEVANTE CLUB APARTMENTS in benidorm. The facilities included, 3 pools ( 1 indoor heated), turkish baths , roman baths, tv lounge, games arcade, buffett restaurant , 2 snack bars ,massage service, fittness centre , gym, sauna, foot treatments, solarium,beauty and asthetics area, juice bar , laundry service, internet, all within 200 metres of the beach. The reviews were excellent ,just what the doctor ordered , and just what we needed. I booked the apartments immediatley,it was the 30TH AUGUST 2009.Within 10 minutes of booking A1 TRAVEL phoned me to say the flights had gone up and did i still want the holiday. I asked if i had got THE LEVANTE CLUB , she assured me i had so i went ahead with the booking. I recieved confirmation of the booking for THE LEVANTE CLUB APARTMENTS from A1 TRAVEL on 31ST AUGUST 2009. We were delighted and looking forward to a relaxing holiday and a bit of pampering at THE LEVANTE CLUB so imagine our horror when we landed at Alicante airport at 10pm on 26TH SEPTEMBER 2009 to be told that we were not going to THE LEVANTE CLUB but to THE HALLEY APARTMENTS, no explanation was given and we were just dropped off at the end of the street and left there. Although i have no complaint against THE HALLEY , the facilities there were 1 pool and 1 snack bar!!!! This did not compare with what we had booked or expected, we asked the manager of THE HALLEY ( who was very helpfull in the circumstances) why we had been transfered there, he sad he had only recieved the booking for us on the 25TH SEPTEMBER 2009, the day before we arrived. On sunday 26th my husband and myself went round to THE LEVANTE CLUB to ask why they had transfered us to THE HALLEY. To our shock and horror we were told that we had NEVER been booked into THE LEVANTE CLUB as STOP SALES had been sent out on these apartments on 28TH AUGUST 2009, 2days BEFORE A1 TRAVEL took my booking. I tried to contact A1 TRAVEL , and finally got through to them on the monday.I spoke to customer advisor! SANDIE and explained we had been transfered( from my original confirmed booking) and asked for an explanation.She said she would phone me back which she did , she said A1 TRAVEL had sent me an email 2 days before my holiday informing me of the accomodation change ,she had infact sent me an email from HOTELS4U to A1 TRAVEL urging them to SPEAK to me as a matter of URGENCY , they chose not to do this , and i never got to read the email before i went on holiday. I asked how could they CHANGE a booking that had NEVER been made as the accomodation was already FULLY BOOKED BEFORE they took my booking.I have had no explanation , no apology ,and no offer of compensation ( which i would of had if A1 TRAVEL had bothered to phone me).I asked for an accomodation change, SANDIE said she would try to sort it out and phone me back, but she never did. I phoned SANDIE on numerous occasions whilst on holiday , but she was always "on the other line" and would phone me back, but she NEVER did. I gave up at this point having wasted 3 days of my holiday trying to get an answer from A1 TRAVEL . We were absoloutley gutted by the treatment we recieved from A1 TRAVEL. When we returned from holiday my husband phoned A1 TRAVEL and asked to speak to SANDIE ( yes she was on the other line ) he was told she would phone him back ( she never did!!) I have sent a letter of complaint to A1 TRAVEL and also several emails complaining about their appauling customer service , they have ignored most of my emails , though i did get a reply telling me to "STOP SENDING CHASING EMAILS" (great customer service) A1 TRAVEL will not accept ANY responsibility for ruining our holiday, choosing to blame HOTELS4U, but i booked with A1 TRAVEL as far as i am concerned my contract was with A1 TRAVEL they took my money!!!!!!If i had wanted allocation on arrival ( which is what i got ) i would of booked it!!! THANKYOU VERY MUCH A1 TRAVEL for ruining what was supposed to be a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday !!!!!!! A1 TRAVEL-NO THANKS NEVER AGAIN

        Very poor customer service, backed up with very little communication

        DO NOT TRAVEL WITH A1 TRAVEL, my family booked a holiday to Turkey with A1 on 23rd December 2009 a total of 12 people on 4 bookings. A1 offered easyjet flights and accommodation in the hotel we required for a holiday in June 2010. We looked at booking the flights directly with easyjet and the accommodation separately with A1. In the end we decided to keep it all with A1 as they offered the Easy Jet flights £10 per person cheaper than booking directlt with Easy Jet. The whole holiday was paid for on the night in full. We also spoke to A1 to confirm that 12 places would be available as although we were travelling as one party we were booking separately. No problems encountered while booking.!! Beginning of January another two family members decided that they wanted to come, they booked the flights directly with easy jet and the accommodation through another operator. 15th January A1 contact just one of the lead passengers from the four bookings to tell us that EasyJet had taken the flights from them because they had not sold enough (sold 25 out of the 50 allocated to them) despite the fact they still had 5 months to sell them. A1 advised us they could refund the cost of the flights but not the accommodation as they are treat as different transactions. Alternatively they could source different flights. We asked them to look for flights (accommodation is useless if you can't get there) They said they had flights from a different airport available (original airport Stansted, new Airport Birmingham, not a problem as we live in Lincoln, there was the small issue of the two late comers who booked separately still travelling from Stansted, but we could live with that). the only other issue was the flights would now cost us an addition £80 per person, OK we would have to live with it, we have little other choice. 16th January, A1 contact us again "sorry there are only2 seats available at Birmingham" !!! " we can send you from Gatwick, but!!! it will be an extra £180 per person!!!!!!!!!!!" This holiday is now going to cost us a considerable amount more than booking with direct holidays who incidently would provide transfers and and inflight meal. By now it would be more beneficial to cancel the holiday lose the cost of the accommodation and rebook with Direct holidays. Thats what we did. We have however pursued all avenues of trying to get our money back including contacting ABTA. after much negotiating A1 agreed to reimburse the full cost of the holiday minus £50 per booking. I have just checked my account and have received a full refund minus £69!!!... Lesson learned. if you going on a budget holiday and an agent offers no frills flights as part of a package don't take them - book separately. my booking alone is over £400 more + the £69 than if i'd booked directly with EasyJet. Somebody somewhere is making money, be it EasyJet or A1. BEWARE DO NOT TRAVEL WITH A1 - ABTA covered counts for nothing if you book no frills flights with an ABTA covered Agent.... You have been warned
