Below is a letter I have recently written to American Express. I wish to share it with fellow consumers as I cannot begin to comprehend the treatment that I received whilst cashing some vouchers last week. Please note that this review questions the customer services dept and therefore only questions the Manchester branch's customer care policies rather than outlining products and services on offer. I should add that it takes a lot for me to put pen to paper but on this occasion my treatment was so bad that I had no choice! Dear Sir/Madam Living and working in Manchester I have become familiar with your American Express office based in ...  Read the complete review

I was travelling in Europe last summer covering more than ten countries in a month. One of the important and yet difficult issue to deal with when hopping between so many countries is currency; how much to exchange for each currency and etc. Of course my advice is to exchange at least a small amount of each currency (in cash) before you start to travel. And the remaining amount would best be carried in the form of travellers cheque of your local currency. That way you will not lose in exchange rate should there be extras. I often book trips through American Express travel services as it's quick and easy. You can also order foreign currency and/or travellers cheques at the same time and they'll change it back for me if I have any left (not a service i use very often may I add). They are always contactable incase you want to make last minute alterations to your arrangements, even when you already away. If it's after office hours of your local branch, there is a 24 hour number you can call. I've always found the telephone operators very helpful in answering my queries or changing my flights or hotel booking at last minute. They store your profile on file so they ...  Read the complete review

I used American Express Travel to book my flights when I went to the States a few years ago, and their service is excellent. It was my first trip abroad ever, I had no idea about what I had to do, or how to get the best deal, but the staff there made it all very easy. They compared all the flight dates and prices for me and got me a very good deal for the time of year I was going. If I was organising a non package holiday, they would definately be my first port of call. Their advice was good and I had a hassle free trip. Regardless of where I am going, I always use American Express travel for my currency exchange. There are no hidden ...  Read the complete review
