We have booked twice with Austravel, once to go to Australia and they were reasonably helpful although getting them to answer phone or email was hopeless. They must have a high turnover of staff because we started with one agent then he/she stops answering emails and you have to contact the office to speak to another agent so probably your file is just left in the in tray! (Unless of course your final payment is due!)
We booked the second time for NZ, thinking we had just been unlucky, but the service has been negligible and negligent again with the agent disappearing off the face of the earth so you get nothing unless you ring the office and then no-one deals with your queries.
Never again - there must be a better travel agent out there who gives you value for such a large amount of money for long haul
